DONALD BYRD “Fuego” Blue Note RVG, P, DG, LAM, BLP 4026 Mono Vinyl
This is 1960, first edition, “RVG” stamped, Laminated Cover, Deep Groove, “P” pressing of DONALD BYRD’s “Fuego” on the "47 West 63rd” labels of Blue Note BLP 4026. Musicians include Donald Byrd, Jackie McLean, Duke Pearson, Doug Watkins, Lex Humphries.
VINYL plays with consistent low-level surface noise (i.e, crackle, static, ?? or ????, relative to the volume of the music/instruments), with occasional pops and ticks (repeating tick first track of each side). But ensemble sections are very clear, dynamic and strong. 95% of the record except for the opening tracks is very quiet and largely noise free. No distortion. No skips. Good gloss. Handful of hairline marks, none feelable. (If you can’t feel it, you won’t hear it). The “47 West 63rd” labels are clean, some fading, spindle wear. Original inner sleeve included. See photos.
LAMINATED COVER is in good shape. No peeling. Top right and lower right corners taped. Corners worn. Seams and mostly clean, cracking, 2” split on lower right corner. “BLUE NOTE RECORDS INC., 43 West 61st St., New York 23” back jacket shows wear, taped sections, ink marks. Please see photos.
This LP was play-tested on a high-end audio system. RECORD CLEANED ON ULTRASONIC CLEANER.
