"BYRD JAZZ" - Donald Byrd Sextet - Esquire 32-019 - Original UK mono issue - WOW!!!!!! Another great find of one of those ever elusive Esquire LP's that never seems to turn up!! - This is a SUPERB copy, the flipback cover, apart from minor discoloration to the back, is in BEAUTIFUL condition!! The disc, with only VERY light surface marks, plays beautifully too - A RARE FIND INDEED!!!!!!! - Miles ahead in recording quality to it's US counterpart as we have come to expect from Esquires great library. - As for the albums content, STUNNING is probably an inadequate adjective to describe it. Byrd's magnificent trumpet, is accompanied here by a selection of modern jazz masters. The great Yusef Lateef is in the tenor spot, the brilliant Bernard McKinney is on euphonium, and then a rhythm section to die for with Barry Harris on piano, Alvin Jackson on bass and the crisp hands of Frank Gans in the drum spot. This is SUPERLATIVE, exciting, driving, emotional andmoving modern jazz at it's finest. Needless to say, all members of the sextet acquit themselves brilliantly as you would expect!! - The session kicks of with a storming, "Parisian Thoroughfare", with a very tongue in cheek great intro, followed by, "Yusef", (a Barry Harris original), the classic, "Shaw 'nuff", "Blues", "Torsion level", "Woody'n you" and finally, "Dancing in the dark". - What a joy in listening pleasure this is, I cannot rave about it enough, MAGNIFICENT!!! - - Once again, this is a great opportunity to pick up one of those ultra elusive pressings from the great Esquire stable, so, so hard to find and this one in outstanding condition for it's age - DON'T MISS THIS ONE!!!!!! - I ship Worldwide, buyer pays shipping at cost. - I can accept payment by: PAYPAL, IPMO's and IMO's drawn
