DON BYAS MEGA RARE 1sr 10” Atlantic VG/VG+

Using my strict grading standards only one surface scratch 15 light spindle marks you need good light to see and one surface splotch that’s just about along with the scratch keeps this rare record from being graded higher. It play tests and grooves look so good that I’m 80% certain with a good deep cleaning the light background surface noise would be dramatically reduced as to play near mint!

This is according to my research a very hard record to find and it has great sound potential, it now plays with a light cleaning (I’m out of Dr Disk and don’t have my VPI 17.F) very acceptably with many grooves that look near perfect, no misuse. A very careful early audiophile with what was state of the art hardware for its time owned this record.

Most of the music is very mellow and quiet, which makes the minor surface noise, which I’m convinced, is from imbedded dirt more noticeable. I don’t have the right playback set up for antique records like this, the RIAA curve and cartridge a low output Lyra Helikon coulodnt be more wrong.

This is a true first edition from what I can gather from the dead wax code A11234 with an AT at 3:00 and an 1 at 9:00 on side a and a B on side 2. The cover seems really decent but to be safe Ill grade the whole thing VG, its really VG+ and might play near mint!

I don’t sell records that have pops and never sold any record that skipped, I use the golden book and play it very conservative. I have been told by many that I undergrade  especially by international buyers who have to put up with a lot of stuff. Nobody ever criticized my grading, may would sell this record as VG plus or even near mint, even professionals which I’m not. I do have a reputation at stake so I expect buyers to be pleasantly surprised. Please do have what it takes to do a deep cleaning and know what this records value is. Be sure you know and like the music in advance. I always do money back which I’ve only had to do a couple of times in all these years, one was for a record damaged in shipping, another had a scratch that I disclosed, the buyer didn’t read it and I didn’t bother to even have the record returned.

PLEASE BE A SOLID BUYER. Im doing a good deed for all concerned and shouldn’t be punished. This record graded near mint is hundreds of dollars and many would try to sell this as near mint so this is great value. I hope it doesn’t get bid up too high. The market seems very dead and I don’t know 10” stuff so as this is one of the rarest out of the 20  or so I plan to offer it’s a test to see if it’s even worth the effort.

This is not one of my records, I’m selling it as a favor for someone along with some very rare according to the golden book 10 records. I’ve never owned or sold a 10 inch record and have no expertise so please know more them I do about this record I’ve pretty much run out of my own records that are worth selling or want to part with and apologize for not being able to properly clean this as I normally would before offering it for sale.

This record is not mine, I'm doing a favor, my goal make everyone happy and be fair to the sellers and owner, most of all continue my success pleasing buyers who I identify with. I never sold a record until divorce forced me to. In the process of selling I've had great feedback and 99% happy buyers, the unhappy buyers were really just mistakes, I really try my best and when I test a record I tell it as I hear it on good playback components. I AM NOT A SELLER AT HEART, I'm a music person and have a high ethical standard I live and will die by. THIS RECORD CAME FROM A CELLER there is that smell, not too bad, not heavy like a Japanese LP that could be mint and plays perfectly that I paid top dollar for in my buying days. MY FEEEDBACK IS 100% POSITIVE, the return policy is anything it takes to keep me at 100%.

THE COVER IS VERY SOLID, I would guess all the wear on the record is from it not having an inner sleeve. Its got a 12" MFSL SLEEVE NOW. and a plastic outer sleeve. If this record sells I will buy more shipping stuff, I have only one Bagsareus 12" box left now.

THIS LP IS SUPER MEGA RARE AND MY CONSERVATIVE GRADE MAKES THIS A GREAT SHOT AT GETTING SOMETHING MEGA RARE AT A REASONABLE PRICE.
