DIO "Annica" PICTURE DISC 12" Record Store Day 2020 Release New With BONUSES

Ronnie James Dio began his long and illustrious career in a boogie rock band called Elf. Elf occasionally toured with Deep Purple as the opening band, so when Deep Purple guitar wizard Ritchie Blackmore left that iconic band, he contacted Dio. In 1974, FIFTY years ago, as fate would have it, Dio and Blackmore began recording together, and in '75, the first Rainbow album was released: ('Ritchie Blackmore's Rainbow'). And Dio never looked back! He went on to front Black Sabbath, then his own namesake band (Dio), then back to Black Sabbath, then back to Dio, and towards the end, Heaven and Hell, (the band)! And the whole time he was writing some great lyrics and singing his heart out!

The eight studio album that the band Dio recorded is called 'Magica', released in 2000. In 2019, a special limited edition Record Store Day release came out, for the song "Annica", a song which surfaced on the second disc of the 2013 two disc reissue of 'Magica'! Also included is TWO versions of the song "Lord of the Last Day, (both studio and live). Plus an EIGHTEEN minute spoken word epic called 'The Story of Magica'! They used artwork based on the 'Magica' cover on the A side, and an older band pic is on the B side. (Strangely enough, this doesn't appear to be the lineup that recorded 'Magica', OR the final Dio lineup!)

This was purchased new, and never taken out of the original clear PVC jacket, with hype sticker. Never sealed, but I never took it out of its jacket. And the jacket is NOT split on any of the sides! (Which is rare to see.) In perfect condition!

I'll also add a 12" vintage Dio interview picture disc! From the UK company Baktabak (back to back), and made in the 80s. I never played this, so I'm not exactly sure what's on it. The A side is a pic of RJD, and the B side is Ronnie and bassist Jimmy Bain. The vinyl itself has a few very, very light surface marks on it. Nothing bad, and no heavy scratches, gouges, or scuffs. Not sure how this will sound, as I never play specialty vinyl such as pic discs or colored records. But nice pics of a young looking RJD!

I'll even add some digital jams! The first CD is the Dio album titled 'Strange Highways', released in 1993, a little over THIRTY years ago. This is the '94 Reprise US version on CD. Disc looks pretty good, with only two light surface marks on it that I see. Nothing bad, or that will affect play. Case in great condition.

And of course I'll also add some Sabbath! In 2007, Rhino released an album called 'Black Sabbath The Dio Years', and it features THREE new songs! This includes tracks off of 'Heaven and Hell', 'Mob Rules', and 'Dehumanizer'. The three new tracks were what made these guys want to get back together again, and they did, but this time as Heaven and Hell, (instead of Black Sabbath). This is good stuff, and encompasses many years of Dio, with the Black Sabbath guys (and Vinnie Appice on drums). Disc looks new, and is shiny and clean. Case looks new, as well. Outer slipcover is showing light signs of wear.

We'll end with a copy of 'Classic Rock' magazine, and the summer of 2010 RJD tribute issue! It's great, and has lots of interesting and cool articles and pics of Ronnie and his various bands through the years. Mag is in very, very good condition, with no pages ripped out or torn, no dog-eared pages, or handwriting anywhere on it. In great shape even though it's been read a few times!

Take home some Dio tunes on CD, and on vinyl, as well as interviews, a story told by RJD himself, and a magazine. We are still trying to process his passing. (RIP Ronnie James Dio. You were truly one of the greats of hard rock and heavy metal, and we're lucky to have the legacy of music that you've left us. You are missed!)
