Description
This is a super rare ADVANCE COPY of The Cookies 1963 45 rpm release of "Will Power" and "I want a Boy for my Birthday" on Dimension records.
Cat. #1012
Provenance: This - and all the 45s and LPs that I'll be listing - are from my personal collection, given to be personally by Sam and Becky Phillips. My uncle was Sam Phillips, of Sun Records. His wife, my Aunt Becky, was one of the first female deejays on the first all-woman radio station, WHER, that Sam founded and which went on the air on October 29th, 1955. Of Becky's voice, Sam had this to say: "There's something about your voice, out of the night, out of the light, out of the sky, here comes your voice. On a little Atwater Kent radio or something." Becky continued her broadcasting career for three decades after WHER's inception. This 45 is an advance copy that she may or may not have ever played on air.
If this record was ever played, it wasn't played much at all. Beautiful glass and sheen and superior sound quality.
Carole King and Gerry Goffin are given songwriting credit to the A side, "Will Power". Slyvester Bradford is the songwriter for the flip, "I want a Boy for My Birthday."
Sleeve is generic.
I'm tragic with a camera so if you need further details or have any comments or questions, please don't hesitate to let me know.
Thank you for looking and the happiest of new years to you and yours!
