UK FIRST PRESSING DOUBLE VINYL ALBUM IN GATEFOLD SLEEVE WITH ORIGINAL POLY-LINED INNER SLEEVES.
Arguably Eric Clapton's finest recorded moment, and certainly one of Duane Allman's best guest sessions, this album sold poorly when first released. Hard to believe, but the album never even charted in the UK when initially released, and only started selling when an edited single of 'Layla' charted in 1972. The album has since been reissued many times.
The ONLY truly great sounding pressings of this album are the original UK Polydor (this one) and the original USA yellow label ATCO. It is hard to differentiate betwen the two pressings, they both sound earthy and very guitar-layered with traditional bass-to-one-side mixes typical of the time. Most reissues 'centre' the bass in accordance with contemporary mixing methods, but this is NOT how the album was originally mixed and mastered, and is akin, in our humble opinion, to heresy, alongside colorization of black and white movies and 'electronically re-channeled for stereo' mono 1960s albums.
The advantage the UK Polydor pressing has over the USA ATCO, is that the vinyl is vastly superior to the noisy polymers Atlantic Records was oddly often happy to have it's classic recordings pressed on.

DISCS: EXCELLENT. NO MARKS OR SCRATCHES, THEY DO NOT LOOK PLAYED MORE THAN ONCE, IF THAT. CLEAN LABELS.
