British synth-pop and techno legends Depeche Mode began their long and illustrious career in 1980. That's nearly FORTY FIVE years ago! Their debut album was released in 1981, but it wasn't until 1984's 'People Are People' that the band saw success, both in Britain, then the US. The title track got heavy airplay on modern rock radio, as well as MTV. It was also my first introduction to the band...

By 1987, Depeche Mode released their biggest hit album up to that point. They titled it 'Music For the Masses', and that synth-pop masterpiece gave us a few hits: "Never Let Me Down Again", "Behind The Wheel", and "Strangelove", then the remixes began!

A song from 'Music For the Masses' that was given the remix treatment is "Behind the Wheel". One of the remixes released was a German import of the Shep Pettibone mix of that great track, and backed with the Beatmasters mix of "Route 66", (which is a track that was never originally on 'Music For the Masses'). This was released on a limited edition orange vinyl 12"! An ULTRA low number of these were made, and they can go for big buck$ here on eBay. In today's great deal, you'll get a copy of that German orange vinyl collectible 12", plus TWO more vintage Depeche Mode 12" remix maxi-singles!

We'll go back to the early 80s with the 12" of their trailblazing hit "People Are People", with THREE tracks! There are two different mixes of "People", each over SEVEN minutes long, plus an extra track ("In Your Memory"). This one helped kick off the career of a band that is still around, still releasing new music, still touring, and still relevant! (Their FIFTEENTH studio album was released last March, and they are currently on tour!)

The next, and last, 12" record in this three piece DM collection is the 12" of the song "Enjoy the Silence", from their 1990 album 'Violator'. This was the one that made them international superstars, as that album sold over 7.5 MILLION copies worldwide (over 3 million in the States alone)! "Silence" was one of the big hits from 'Violator', and is represented here with a FOUR mix maxi-single. And the first remix on it, called 'The Quad: Final Mix', lasts over FIFTEEN minutes long!

Each of these records look great, with only a couple of hardly noticable and very light surface marks. No scratches, gouges, or scuffs. Each one comes in its original jacket, and those all look really good, as well! Just some light shelf-wear, but again, nothing bad. (See pics for flaws.) Looking fantastic for collectibles from that awesome era...the 80s! Take home some Depeche Mode to spin some magic, and your turntable will learn to love again!
