If your think back to the early 2010s when every other guy you would walk past in London would try to style themselves on Mac De Marco, Mac was making music that conveyed his absurd sense of humour and slacker rock image. He looked cool, sounded cool and people wanted to be him. Fast forward to now and this is his sixth studio album and you can hear how time has impacted him. He's no longer in his 20s goofing about in the same way, there's a gentleness to the man that's always been there but comes out more unfiltered and sincere than ever before. The lead single 'Home', lifted from this stunning new album, was recorded at Mac's home studio and his words, which detail a haunting emotional struggle, are tied to a striking, transfixing melody. Not every singer-songwriter has a gift to captivate at the level that Mac does. He's on another level.
