Del Shannon's second album for Liberty Records, Total Commitment followed a similar pattern to its predecessor, mixing originals with covers of contemporary hits, with one important difference -- Shannon produced this album himself, instead of relying on Snuff Garrett, and the result is generally a far leaner, more stripped-down sound.
With George Tipton doing the arrangements, Total Commitment is almost a roots rock record compared with This Is My Bag, which preceded it, with guitars prominent in the mix and less ornate vocal mixes. And even amid such classic compositions as "Where Were You When I Needed You," "Time Won't Let Me," and "Summer in the City," Shannon managed to acquit himself well as a composer with the haunting "She Was Mine" and "What Makes You Run."
The resulting album, released in the UK in Feb 1967 got lost in the psychedelic pop run up to Sgt. Peppers, but today stands as a classic in its own right

LABELS: EXCELLENT+ Clean, unmarked labels with just one or two careless spindle traces per side.
Both of the SAMPLE RECORD stickers are pristine and show no sign of attempted removal
VINYL Visual: EXCELLENT
Both surfaces display light hairline and brush marks but none of these have any significant impact on the sound
VINYL Audio: NEAR MINT
Plays beautifully throughout with little to fault.
The sound is crisp, clean and fresh with a great *MONO* cut.
An occasional one-off tick noted but nothing really - great copy
SLEEVE: NEAR MINT
The front laminated cover is sharp with no wear to the edges or spine and a deep gloss to the front laminated.
There is a little grubbiness on the flipbacks but again, nothing really.
A very fine example
