If you own a serious Beatles collection you need this one! This is an original Big Top US release of FROM ME TO YOU by the late Del Shannon. This is the first Beatles song released in the US (1963). Although it wasn't much of a hit and not many copies were made (peaking at #77 in the US charts and missing the UK charts), it has huge historical significance. The Beatles were big fans of Del Shannon, as was England. When Del Shannon toured England, he heard the little known Beatles sing this song, and decided to release it in the US. The song was released a year before the Beatles arrived in America.

DEL SHANNON PROMISED JOHN LENNON BEFORE RETURNING TO THE UNITED STATES FROM HIS U.K.TOUR THAT HE WOULD NOT RECORD "FROM ME TO YOU" BEFORE THE BEATLES THEMSELVES. JOHN HAD EXPLAINED TO DEL THAT HE HAD PLANNED TO RELEASE IT IN THE U. K. AS A SECOND ATTEMPT TO ACHIEVE STARDOM THAT HAD SOMEWHAT ELUDED THEM ON "PLEASE, PLEASE ME".THE REST, AS THEY SAY, IS" HISTORY".
