Deep Purple : Stormbringer A-1U / B-1U 1st Press
This first pressing plays to a very high standard with no interference basically. There is a minimal amount of light static at the start of 'Love Don't Mean A Thing' but I have only included it in my grading so as to be 100% 'complete'. It is so so quiet and you barely notice it. The clarity, depth and power of the audio throughout is high end and has clearly not been on a turntable that much. The sonic quality is stunning and for once the final track 'Soldier Of Fortune' is 'as new' with no interference. A FINAL UPGRADE album in my opinion.
The cover has been preserved very well with only minimal wear and the inner sleeve is also in superb condition.

Visual description
The vinyl is in lovely condition and still retains a very impressive glossy sheen with no marks or scratches. Under a bright light you can see some faint sleeve removal hairlines but they have zero effect on the audio. The labels are super clean with only minimal spindle wear.
Play grading
The title track 'Stormbringer' plays 'as new' with no sign of any interference. The sonic quality is stunning - the audio is so powerful and there is a real sense of depth and warmth to the sound. This is Mint all day long.
'Love Don't Mean A Thing' has only the lightest of static on the intro and if you're not listening carefully you would miss it. A couple of mega light statics on the opening vocal also and from then it plays with great precision and zero background. I'll grade the opening section as Near Mint and the rest as Mint
The quiet intro on 'Holy Man' plays beautifully and Hughes' opening vocal keeps up the good work. The chorus is faultless and it continues to play with superb clarity and definition. It shows just how well this vinyl has been looked after - every section plays like it has never been on a turntable before! This is Mint from start to finish.
'Hold On' has no background on the intro and the first verse and chorus are equal to that. The level does not drop and again the audio is so clean and dynamic. It may not have been a favourite of Blackmore's but there is no denying the quality of the audio. It provides a Mint finish to the side.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------
'Lady Double Dealer' plays with great power and depth throughout with no interference. 'As new' sums it up perfectly - loud and true with no distortion. Mint
'You Can't Do It Right...' is just as impressive with only a handful of very light ticks on the fade out. Let's say Mint-
Both 'High Ball Shooter' and 'The Gypsy' play with stunning precision from start to finish. The clarity and depth of the audio is comparable to an un-played vinyl and Mint is well deserved.
The acoustic intro on 'Soldier Of Fortune' is faultless, not one dust tick even, and Coverdale's first vocal is just as clean. You could say rare in a way as this classic often has a 'muddy' type sound quality I find but not here! It plays beautifully and the mid instrumental is of the same standard. The final vocal section has no intrusion and Mint is an easy grade to give. I always feel this track ends too early but hey who am I to judge!
In summary this first pressing plays with STUNNING quality with a clarity, depth and warm that cannot be faulted. In essence there is no interference and as stated the static at the the start of the second track is so so quiet and scarcely needs a mention. This is a FINAL UPGRADE album and has clearly not been played very much.
The Cover & Inner Sleeve
The G & L cover is in superb condition with minimal shelf wear. The edges are very clean with no obvious rubbing and the thin pinched spine has only a hint of wear on the corners. Only the bottom right corner has a little more wear but still not very much and the opening edge has only the bare minimum of handling wear. The front cover is very clean with only light creasing in one area next to the spine but I only saw this when I held it at an angle under a bright light. There is also one small crimp next to the opening edge. The back cover just has some light ringwear as is common and a minor corner rub bottom right. A fine example overall.
The original plain white inner is in great shape with only some light creasing.
