Description
DEEP PURPLE In Rock (Harvest SHVL 777) RARE UK 1st Pressing No EMI A2/B1 MINT-
RARE original, very first UK pressing of Deep Purple`s most probably finest hour, "In Rock" on Harvest Records (June 1970).
Deep Purple`s "In Rock" is unquestionably one of the greatest hard rock albums ever made - and a genre-defining moment for what later came to be known as "heavy metal". I have to admit to originally preferring "Machine Head", due to the fact perhaps that I bought it upon its initial release (i.e. "my first Deep Purple album"). However, "In Rock" still retains some rather charming remnants of psychedelia, both in the songwriting and in its execution - elements that had clearly been exorcised by the time "Machine Head" appeared. And then, there is of course also the transcendent might of "Child In Time", undoubtedly the band`s finest moment (and no, that most definitely wasn`t "Smoke On The Water"). Clearly a force to be reckonend with and hewn in rock.
