PRESSED ON QUALITY HEAVYWEIGHT VINYL (much, much thicker than later presses) WITH DEEP STAMPED GROOVES WHICH DELIVER ABSOLUTELY OUTSTANDING CRYSTAL CLEAR AND POWERFUL AUDIO
THE GREEN HARVEST LABELS HAVE THE FIRST ISSUE "THE GRAMOPHONE CO. LTD...." RIM TEXT (later changed to "EMI Records...")

COMPLETE WITH THE ORIGINAL LYRIC INSERT (so often missing)
AND THE ORIGINAL HARVEST COMPANY INNER SLEEVE (now a bit of a rarity in itself)
One of Deep Purple's four indispensable albums (the others being In Rock, Machine Head, and Burn), 1971's Fireball saw the band broadening out from the no-holds-barred hard rock direction of the previous year's cacophonous In Rock.
Metal machine noises introduced the sizzling title track -- an unusually compact but explosively tight group effort on which Jon Lord's organ truly shined.
The innuendo-encrusted hilarity of "Anyone's Daughter," featuring one of singer Ian Gillan's first (and still best) humorous storylines to go with one of guitarist Ritchie Blackmore's most uncharacteristic, bluesiest performances ever.
"The Mule" opened the vinyl album's second side with what is perhaps Purple's finest instrumental, and on the hyper-extended "Fools," the bandmembers proved they could flirt with progressive rock without plunging off its cliff (although the song could probably have done without its drawn-out middle section). And closing the album was the exceptional "No One Came," where intertwining instrumental lines locked together beautifully, Gillan wove another entertaining yarn that was part autobiography and part Monty Python, and the often underrated skills of drummer Ian Paice helped the song sound so unreservedly fresh and intuitive that one could almost be convinced the band had winged it on the spot.
Sure, the following year's Machine Head would provide Deep Purple with their commercial peak, but on Fireball, the formidable quintet was already firing on all cylinders.
Track Listing:
Side 1: FIREBALL / NO NO NO / DEMON'S EYE / ANYONE'S DAUGHTER
Side 2: THE MULE / FOOLS / NO ONE CAME
LABELS: The labels are CLEAN and BRIGHT with NO unwanted marks/writing but they do carry a few careless but prominent spindles
VINYL Visual: The vinyl still retains its DEEP, GLOSSY SHEEN. There are some superficial marks but these have no major audio consequence (see detailed assessment below). Visually VG++
VINYL Audio: BEAUTIFUL, DEEP, RICH SOUND - CRYSTAL CLEAR, VERY SHARP and VERY STRONG. FANTASTIC LP - SOUNDS SUPERB RIGHT FROM THE OPENING BREAKNECK, FEROCIOUS DRUMMING INTRO OF "Fireball" THROUGH TO THE FINAL "No One Came". There are NO jumps, NO sticks, NO scratches, NO clicks or pops and barely any surface noise (really, hardly any). The LP plays BEAUTIFULLY THROUGHOUT (and pretty much perfectly on my system) to a very high standard with GREAT CLARITY, NO distortion and NO groove-wear. Must be critically graded EXCELLENT for audio. TREMENDOUS PIECE OF WORK and NOT over-graded in ANY way as I use strict RECORD COLLECTOR grading standards (please refer to my feedback and 'about me' page).
SLEEVE: The sleeve is in VERY GOOD++ condition. In GREAT SHAPE. Very little of the common heavy surface rubbing with the only major fault being some wear to the spine (please see close-up photos)
THE ORIGINAL HARVEST BAG IS IN ALSO IN GREAT SHAPE WITH NO SPLITS. The LP is now housed - and will be posted in - a new inner to prevent any 'knifing' damage to the original during transit
INSERT: The lyric insert is GOOD and SOLID with NO structural damage but the original owner has marked their favourite tracks with biro ticks (see photos) VERY GOOD++
