Description
For many years, one of my favorite, nearly-impossible-to-find records was a 7-inch called "Politicians in My Eyes" by the band Death. Death was a visionary protopunk trio from Detroit, made up of the brothers David, Bobby, and Dannis Hackney. They recorded an album's worth of tracks in the mid-seventies, but their iconoclastic sound (and, according to legend, their refusal to change their decidedly non-commercial name) alienated them to record labels. In 1976, Death put two songs from its studio sessions on a self-released single ("Politicians" and its B-side, "Keep on Knocking").
500 copies were pressed.
For the record this is an ORIGINAL PRESSING on the TRYANGLE lable!
Dread letting this one go, but times is tough. This copy weighs in at a VG++ condition from the playing surface right down to the labels. I would call it MINT, but seeing this is now 36years old... None the less plays perfect and looking for a good home!
Here is a brief lowdown on the boys.
Death was a garage rock and protopunk demo band formed in Detroit, Michigan, in 1971 by the brothers Bobby (bass, vocals), David (guitar), and Dannis (drums) Hackney. The African American trio started out as an R&B band but switched to rock after seeing an Alice Cooper show.[1] Music critic Peter Margasak (incorrectly denoting the youngest brother) retrospectively wrote of their musical direction: "The youngest of the brothers, guitarist David, pushed the group in a hard-rock direction that presaged punk, and while this certainly didn’t help them find a following in the mid-70s, today it makes them look like visionaries."[2]
