Description

DAVID BOWIE - "The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust"
(RCA LSP-4702) [1972]  Original 1st US Press Promo with timing strip (Stereo)

Visually graded condition of disc:  VG+ (Read ALL of the paragraph below in RED)

Condition of sleeve: Sleeve has medium shelf wear, but really decent condition. Ring wear on both sides. Top and bottom edges have medium wear from decades of storage. Top left corner is dinged. Spine is breaking up a bit, but NO splits. The high point of this item is the timing strip - only applied to the very first promo copy sent to radio stations one week before release.
Includes photo/lyric inner sleeve shown which has a 2" split on one side and a 3" split on the other, but no tears.

In my 37 years of on-air rock radio I acquired over 30,000 LP's from the record labels. Normally, 80% of my items are new and unplayed. Only very special in-demand records otherwise are listed in my store that fall beneath this criteria.
This copy was the very first promo copy sent to our radio station in 1972 one week before it was released. This copy was also our first "on-air" copy that was placed in the air studio. Normally, DJ's weren't very careful with LP's with the pressure of playing these live on the air and for the simple fact that one call to RCA and we'd have 5 backup copies in less than a day or so.
Amazingly enough, this copy although it does show signs of handling, plays AMAZINGLY WELL. Almost NM- for the most part.
For some really great reason, there are no spindle marks. Also after listening to the entire LP there are hardly 'any' (really only one) distracting pops or crackles - maybe it's because of RCA's Dynaflex.
SO THERE ARE NO DISAPPOINTMENTS WHATSOEVER, I have included links for you to LISTEN TO THE ENTIRE LP below, so you can make an educated decision and so we can avoid any reasons for a buyer to return the LP because of the way it plays.
Frankly IT PLAYS GREAT. Please take the time listen to them below. You have until January 24th (when the auction ends).

You can hear and/or download ALL OF SIDE ONE (at 112k) HERE  (File size is only 16MB)
(This side contains the only really noticeable "Click" at 4:24. Oddly enough, inspecting that groove under a bright light shows NOTHING AT ALL. So it isn't there from mishandling, I've concluded it's a pressing flaw)

You can hear and/or download ALL OF SIDE TWO (at 112k) HERE  (File size is only 15MB)

NO 'BEST OFFERS' ACCEPTED

Continuing with the liquidation of my record collection passing them on to people who can more appreciate them.
These are items from my collection of nearly 40,000 promo singles, LP's & CD's from the 60's thru the 90's that I was
fortunate to acquire from doing 37 years of on-air Rock Radio.

All of my records are guaranteed original pressings unless otherwise noted.

These records were sorted, stored, moved a few times, and then stored again for decades. Some carefully,
others were not. All of my gradings are visual, and more often than not, quite generous.
Just check my feedback. You can bid and buy with confidence.

MY GRADING SCALE

(very similar to the Goldmine standard)

NM (Near Mint): Record will show no serious scuffs or scratches in the playing area. May have minor scuffs on edges from decades of storage, or a small scuff, scratch or paper scuff on playing area.
It's near mint, not mint (which would be 'sealed' to me). There should be no audible distractions.
NM- (Near Mint minus): A scuff or two or light scratch or two on either or both sides that may be heard.
VG+: Scuffs & some minor scratches in the playing area. Some will most likely be heard.
VG: Many scuffs or scratches that will be heard but record should still play fine.

Record grading is subjective. I offer a 100% money back guarantee on  everything I sell.
