DAVID BOWIE - ZIGGY STARDUST...
German gatefold release from 1972. No Mainman logo on reverse. Orange RCA labels.
I think we all know what this record stands for, what it represents and how it sounds. So here's some interesting facts about the record:
Hunky Dory (1971) and Ziggy Stardust (1972) were pretty much recorded back to back. But much of the material for this album was recorded before work on Hunky Dory. Basically the band though Hunky Dory's tunes weren't snappy enough for live shows - so this follow helped as they began touring. It's basically so the kids could learn the tunes.
Producer Ken Scott said on David's first four albums that 95% of the vocals were first takes. Just listening to opener Five Years, that sends a chill down my spine. Stunning!
One final interesting fact is that the forename Ziggy came about when Bowie was on a train and passed a tailors shop with the name 'Ziggy' on the sign. Bowie said in 1990, he liked it because of the whole 'Iggy Pop connotation, but it was a tailor's shop, and I thought, well, this whole thing is gonna be about clothes. So it was my own little joke calling him Ziggy.'

POSTAGE
Due to price this record is available with postage paid for by me.
OR
Local collection via my house or my record stall (when available) - FREE
I package each record using the 'cardboard and bubble wrap sandwich method.' Sleeve and LP are kept separate within the postage sleeve. It will arrive to your house looking very tasty but please don't attempt to eat it for your dinner. I only recommend popping it on your record player.
INTERNATIONAL POSTAGE
I have offered European and international postage to people on other records which I sell. However one particular continental customer has sent through some horrible feedback and been rather abusive - so I'd prefer to now only ship to somewhere in the UK from here on in. Shame really that we all can't get along. But that's the modern world for you.
It doesn't mean I won't ship abroad but you'll have to send me a message so I can figure out a postage price and whether or not I'm happy to ship this, or any item out to you. Everyone deserves a second chance.
All the best.
