Description

David Bowie

'The Rise And Fall Of Ziggy Stardust and the Spiders from Mars'

Matrix Numbers: 1E/2E

This is one of the rarest original, absolute 1st UK pressings of this iconic album and has the stamped matrices BGBS0864 1E & BGBS0865 2E on 'thick' heavyweight vinyl .

The 1972 original 1st UK pressing SF 8287 is IMPOSSIBLE to locate and becoming very scarce nowadays. Fully COMPLETE With the 1st press matrices, 1st issue glossy victor labels on THICKER 1st pressed vinyl and 1st issue picture/lyric inner sleeve - this is a 100% Genuine 100% Complete 1st press - a really robust and high quality pressing !!! The record was pressed by Robert Stace and has the earliest unlaminated (matte) album sleeve with the RCA Victor logo infringing on the window frame (earliest), and it's in the best condition i've ever seen for a Ziggy Stardust record!! NO RINGWEAR!!

The sleeve has the Robert Stace credit on the reverse, A Gem Production credit with no "mainman" credit ANYWHERE. The 'glossy labels' (which only the earliest pressings have) and the 1st issue inner picture/lyric insert have Titanic / Chrysalis music publishing credits, which indicates that this is indeed a 1st pressing.

This is one super rare original UK 1st pressing LP in absolutely stunning Nr Mint condition! Probably one of the best i've ever seen for this record!!!

This record was released on RCA Victor Records SF 8287 ( LSP 4702 ) BGBS0864/5 on the 6th June 1972.

The condition of the record is Near Mint and it retains a lovely Glossy Sheen having been played VERY FEW TIMES ( has a couple of light hairlines & overall scuff marks but plays through STUNNINGLY with surprisingly little noise considering its age, only a few moments of light crackle and only a couple of very minor pops) and NO SCRATCHES!

The sound reproduction is deep, rich and warm sounding since the record was made with an entirely analogue signal pathway - the effect is that it sounds like Bowie right in front of you!!! The audio is crystal clear and completely transparent!

The outer sleeve is in absolutely STUNNING condition. The Spine is fully legible, maintains its structure and is a bright white colour! .

The inner sleeve has mild creasing, and a couple of light pencil marks!

The labels are clean with no spindle marks (THE CLEANEST I'VE EVER SEEN)

A really fantastic example of this iconic 1st UK pressing ! A must have for any record collector!

THIS RECORD WAS ONE OF THE FIRST EVER PRESSED, AND THEREFORE THE MASTER RECORDING TAPE AND STAMPER PLATE WOULD HAVE BEEN BRAND NEW. THE LATER PRESSING ARE NOT AS HIGH FIDELITY TO THE ORIGINAL INTENDED SOUND REPRODUCTION QUALITY AS THIS RECORD IS - THIS IS BECAUSE OVER TIME THE MASTER PLATE GETS WORN DOWN. THIS RECORD WAS PRESSED WHEN THE MASTER TAPE WAS BRAND NEW!!!!
