1975 GATEFOLD PROMO SLEEVE ORIGINAL.

THE RAREST PRESSING OF YOUNG AMERICANS ON EARTH.

Yes your eyes are not deceiving you.

This is possibly the only copy in existence.It was pressed in

Venezuela as a promo LP as it states on the front sleeve 

(Disen de Promoci`on Binenta) (I think that's what it says ,its hard to

make out double click the pictures) but the (Disen de promoci`on) is clear

it is written in Bowie`s hair. I`ve been collecting since 1978 and in all that time

I have never seen or even heard of another copy like it. I believe its totally unique

you would need an expert to confirm that and that certainly isn't me. But this would

not be the first unique Bowie item I have unearthed over the years.

For those of you that are going to try to locate info on other gatefold versions of this LP.

Don't make the mistake of comparing this 1975 ORIGINAL to the releases they put out

for the 25th 30th or 40th anniversarys of this LP .

NOTE.

THIS IS AN ORIGINAL FIRST PRESSING FROM 1975 . I have NEVER seen another.

CONDITION: As you can see it comes in a thick heavy card stock

WIDE SPINE GATEFOLD SLEEVE.

I photographed the spine but there`s no writing on it . Not that its worn away .

It hasn't . If you look closely you can see only a small amount of the top of each

letter in the typeset that would read YOUNG AMERICANS DAVID BOWIE . I will try to

show this in the photos but its really difficult .Only the tops of the letters are there .

Also on the record label side 1 reads Jovenes Americanos David Bowie 1975

then lists the song titles but side 2 reads Pedro Vargas en el Carnedie Hall Vol 1.

I assure you its Bowie on side 2 with the same songs from side 2 of the UK and USA

release of the same LP. So there is a misspressed lable . Due to these 2 printing errors

this LP should never have left the record plant .Because its a promo and not for general

sale to the public they let it through.

Its interesting that they went to the trouble to not only print the lyrics on the inside of the sleeve

but also list the songs plus song timings and totalled the length of each side of the LP as iv`e

shown in the pictures. Gatefold sleeves are expensive for record companies to produce and the fact

ive never seen or heard of another from this country leads me to believe it was scraped and never

released in Venezuela.

The sleeve has some ware and foxing but nothing too bad and I think

on the rare occasions that you get a chance to own something like this, condition goes right out the

window.

Look at it.

When have you ever seen another ?

The vinyl has a lot of hairlines it has been well played but it does plays well with minor background

noise between tracks and in the quieter parts I have cleaned it on my VPI to improve it. But there

is a problem it has about 4 intrusive clicks towards the end of Can you hear me just before Bowie`s

falsetto and it skips forward and a couple of words are missed. Due to that it would only be fair of me

the grade the vinyl as Very good .The rest of the LP plays fine.

So sleeve Very Good + Vinyl Very Good .

But one thing here is TOTALLY INESCAPEABLE ...

I have absolutely fantastic news for the person who is going to own this

magnificent Bowie rarety.

I spent a long time cleaning this record today on my VPI machine and I can guarantee

that the track Can you hear me plays through COMPLETELY AND WITHOUT ANY

SKIPS OR STICKING AT ALL EVERY SINGLE TIME I PLAYED IT WHICH WAS

A TOTAL OF 5 TIMES. THE SONG DOES CAN YOU HEAR ME NOW DOES NOT

JUMP AT ALL !!!! In fact the 4 intrusive clicks have cleaned up magnificently

and are now down to 2 minor clicks.

Due to the rarety and importance of this LP im going to work on this LP for the next couple of days.

When im done I will give an in deapth track by track description of how each song on this LP

plays so everyone is perfectly clear on what they are bidding on.
