This first pressing is another Bowie one up for auction that plays to the highest standard possible with no interference.  Read the audio grading below and you will know exactly what I mean!  It is a FINAL UPGRADE archive pressing with no ticks, clicks or pops and only the lightest of static at the end of a couple of fade outs on S2!  The clarity and definition of the audio on both sides is phenomenal and this is easily the finest first pressing I have ever listened to.
The cover is in excellent condition with only minimal wear and the fold out lyric insert is practically 'as new'.  The original inner sleeve just has some light creasing.  A stunning album in so many ways and a real return to form.

Visual description
As you would expect the vinyl is in excellent condition and still has a strong glossy look with very little marking and no scratches.  There are a couple of minor fade lines and just a little 'hazing' on S1 but it is faint and has literally no impact on the 'as new' audio.  The run outs grooves are very clean and the black / silver RCA labels are perfect with no marking or spindle wear.
Play Grading
The 'intro' on 'It's No Game (No. 1)' is crystal clear and as the music comes in there is still no background.  Bowie's opening vocal section is perfect and it continues in the same precise way.  Fripp adding so much to the track in his usual unique way.  Put simply it is 'as new' from start to finish.  Mint
'Up The Hill Backwards' again plays with stunning precision with no intrusion at all.  Superb clarity and depth and another Mint track - easy to grade!
The title track 'Scary Monsters...' plays to the same high end standard.  Has this record ever been played?!  The clarity, depth and power of the audio is phenomenal and there is not one single negative.  Davis's drum work is so strong and Fripp again, superb!  There are a couple of minor statics right at the end of the fade out but I can't downgrade it because of that!  Very much a 'punk rock' track in every way.  Mint all the way.
The classic intro on 'Ashes To Ashes' is faultless and the opening vocal is just as clean and 'fresh' sounding as is the opening vocal.  The first chorus is 'as new' and the mid instrumental has no intrusion either.  This genuine classic continues to play with a clarity and warmth that is second to none and I cannot praise it highly enough.  The playback is so clean and distinct, the most 'complete' version I have ever heard.  Mint and that includes the fade out.
The entire intro on 'Fashion' is perfect as is the rest of the track!  Every vocal and instrumental section play so clearly without any background and the original sonic quality is still 100% there.  Being quite a 'funky' number the audio is so deep and warm, couldn't play any better.  A stunning version and Mint from the first note to the last.
------------------------------------------------------------------------------
There is a hint of light static right at the start of 'Teenage Wildlife' for a couple of seconds only and then the rest of the intro plays to perfection.  The opening vocal has no interference and from then on plays with STUNNING precision...once more!  I cannot emphasise enough just how well it plays, every note so clean and definite with no distortion anywhere.  Another classic, sometimes under the radar I think, with widely interpreted lyrics!  Great power and depth throughout with only a minimal amount of light static at the end of the fade out so I will say Mint- overall.  The first minus on the album!
'Scream Like A Baby' again shows how infrequently this record has been played, if at all!  The clarity and definition of the audio is exceptional and it can only grade as Mint
The intro on 'Kingdom Come' is flawless and the opening vocal is just as strong.  This high end standard is prevalent throughout with no sign of any background, not even a solitary dust tick.  The only cover on the album of course.  Mint
Featuring unmistakeable work from Pete Townshend the intro on 'Because You're Young' is stunning and the first vocal has no intrusion either.  It proceeds in the same way with no interference, just pure unadulterated Mint audio from start to finish.  A more straightforward pop song you could say, it cannot be faulted.
'It's No Game (No. 2)' provides the perfect ending to this classic album with a sonic quality that is so impressive for a final track.  The playback is so clean, free of any distortion, and Murray's strong bass work adds so much to the overall 'sound'.  There is some static in the silent section as the track 'ends' but the rewinding tape then plays perfectly.  I think Mint- is fair because to all intents and purposes the track had ended by this point anyway!
The Cover, Lyric Insert & Inner Sleeve
The cover is in excellent condition with very little wear.  The edges are very clean with no rubbing and the thin spine has just a little compression near the top, some minor indentation and a little wear by the top corner.  The other corners are in great shape with hardly any wear and the opening edge is near perfect with only a couple of minor rubs.  The front cover has a small corner crease top left and an even smaller one top right and perhaps some minor discolouration on the top half of the left edge, very minor!  The back cover is in superb order with no obvious wear, just some light compression next to the spine.  Overall a very strong example.
The fold out lyric insert is in superb condition with no marking and barely any creasing.  The plain white inner sleeve just has some light creasing nothing else.

Postage & Packaging

I will only send items items worldwide via tracked shipping.  This provides 'peace of mind' in case of loss or damage.  The shipping costs are shown below and combined shipping is always offered.  Any over-payment will always be refunded.

The Royal Mail only insure up to a value of £250 so if an item sells for more it may be wise to use a courier service (e.g. Parcelforce or DPD).  An extra insurance premium will be required but I will not know the exact amount until the final sale price is known.  Because of this I will sometimes have to estimate the cost and this will be shown in the listing.  Please wait for the invoice before making payment and if you have any questions please feel free to ask.  Many thanks.

All vinyls are packaged in strong over-sized custom made mailers with plenty of extra cardboard protection.  They are placed inside separate poly-lined inners outside the cover so as to avoid seam splits in transit and then placed inside a PVC sleeve to provide even more protection.  I pride myself on my high quality packaging as my feed confirms and if any customer has any specific requirements I am more than happy to help.

The mailers I use cost £1.00 each and I will use anything between 3-5 cardboard stiffeners which cost approx £0.18 each.  There is also the cost of the poly-lined inner and PVC sleeve to consider, it all adds up!  Not forgetting that eBay take 10% of the shipping fee also!!
