DAVID BOWIE

STATION TO STATION.

ORIGINAL 1975 UK TEST PRESSING.

RCA RECORDS.

1975 NOT 1976.

This is an ultra rare 1975 UK TEST PRESSING of David Bowie`s masterpiece from1976, Station to Station. Featuring his final character The Thin White Duke. That thing with the dates is not so nutty , read on.

STATION TO STATION was released on Jan 24 1976 in the USA and Jan 26 1976 in the UK. This Test pressing pre dates both those releases. Double click the pictures and read the paperwork that accompanies this rare pressing. At the bottom right hand corner of the letter it reads

Date of issue 15.12.1975.

On the back of the paperwork it reads send to: Beverly Chubb Radio Hallam Sheffield. So obviously this was mailed to the Hallam Radio station from RCA records to promote David`s forthcoming new LP.

WHAT EXACTLY IS A TEST PRESSING ?????

When the record has been made and recorded to Acetate.

The artist , band members and the record producers and sound

engineers require a test press on vinyl, to see how the new LP

will sound before it is made to sell in the record shops. These

pressings are quality control. They are done in tiny numbers.

Once every one is happy with the way the item sounds the go

ahead is given for the Store stock copies to be pressed.

This record right here is one of the tiny few RCA RECORDS

had pressed to check quality control . So rare. Is much too

inadequate a word. To describe this , one word can not do it

justice. This copy of STATIONTOSTATION is literally

RARE BEYOND BELIEF. It is from the UNITED KINGDOM

and not a USA pressing. It is definitely one of the rarest pressings

of STATIONTOSTATION in existence.

It is simply my own opinion but I think this album gets overlooked.

Whenever you see of hear anyone on TV or Radio talking about Bowie its always about Hunky Dory or Ziggy Stardust or Diamond Dogs. Rarely does this LP get any attention and that is just wrong.

IT IS A MASTERPIECE.

Not just for the title track, but for ALL OF IT . It contains the coolest single I have ever heard, GOLDEN YEARS.

I saw an interview with Bowie years ago and the interviewer to my disbelief, asked Bowie a question I myself have wanted to ask him .

He said David your voice sounds different on every LP, even each track of each LP you sound different ....What is the one song of them all that

is the real David Bowie ? Bowie replied "my voice is like an artists palette, full of different colours, I pick which colour will suit which song, so what does David Bowie sound like.....

Wild is the wind  that is David Bowie`s voice".

A great question, and a better answer. Wild is the wind is a fantastic

way to close this magnificent LP. BOWIE is a genius.

The thick heavy slab of 1970`s vinyl is in EXELLENT Condition side one has one light hairline mark about an inch long, side 2 also has a similar light hairline mark . Both these marks have

ABSOLUTELY NO EFFECT

on the sound of this LP and it plays perfectly through its entirety.

MAGNIFICENT all the way.

The labels are very clean Double click the pictures there is a light amount of

yellowing on side 1 but it still looks great.

The RAC paperwork has a few creases and some one wrote Release

Jan 26 on the top and some other marks nevt to Station to station

TVC15 and Stay. I have never seen another one of these.

This is seriously rare pressing of a classic David Bowie LP.
