Description
For auction here is an extremely rare PROMO LP made specifically to promote the ITV music series Pop Gold, broadcast in 2015, given out in advance of the show's first episode. It features a selection of hitherto unreleased, recordings featured on the show by major artists performing live on UK TV. The album was pressed in tiny numbers and privately distributed only to media insiders.
Most notably it features for the first time anywhere DAVID BOWIE's historic live debut of 'Drive In Saturday' on The Russell Harty Show in 1973 taken and remastered from the ITV tapes. This would be enough of a magnet for vinyl collectors but, amazingly, alongside this are The Sex Pistols on So It Goes, The Rolling Stones from Stones In The Park, Nirvana live on The Word as well as other major artists. A simply astonishing line up by any standard.
This record was distributed within the media for promotional purposes only and as far as I am aware has never surfaced onto the collector's market. There may be fewer than 50 of these in existence.
It was never intended for public release. This is a golden opportunity to own one of the few ever pressed.
Condition is near perfect. The cover with the show's logo is sturdy and unmarked (the crumpled effect pictured is part of the design) and the disc itself appears completely mint and unplayed.
Given the enormous rarity of this record, the start price is low and there there is NO reserve. Good luck.
