David Bowie - The Man Who Sold the World (Rare 1970 US stamped matrix version with un-punched sleeve!)
Original US Pressing with Stamped Matrix. This record and sleeve is a lot rarer than it is given credit for! Apparently under 1500 records with sleeves without punches or cuts were sold.
This is a top quality all round excellent copy, both sleeve and vinyl the best I’ve seen. I don't think there's any better copy for sale anywhere on line currently.
This release has stamped matrix numbers with M1 and M2 as well in the dead wax. All other versions with this cover are bootleg/counterfeits (with etched matrix numbers). This original has the far superior recording quality - sounds fantastic. (Please zoom in to see stamped matrix number).
Vinyl is a beautiful example in Ex condition, labels indicate very limited play, if any, vinyl is shiny, looks great with minimal noise between tracks.
Sleeve is a rare example that has not been punched or cut like the majority of originals that have survived! These sleeves are usually hammered but this is a lovely clean copy, a little storage wear only, the white areas look great - Ex condition.

This US release is the first release on LP of The Man Who Sold the World. It was only released in two countries - US and Japan (SFX-7345) - with this original cover.
The US Mercury album was counterfeited in the early 1970s after Bowie became popular.
The following visual indicators can be used to confirm an original US Mercury LP:
• The matrices in the runout (the space between the label and the grooves) are machine stamped (the counterfeits are hand etched).
• The space between the final lyric line of The Supermen and the cartoon bubble "Oh By Jingo" on the back cover is approximately the height of a line of text, while on the counterfeits the space is notably wider.
