David Bowie - Hunky Dory Genuine UK Very First Press with rare Laminated sleeve and NO Gem logo on back!
This was quickly withdrawn after the error omitting Gem on rear. A really great copy in Excellent condition, there won’t be many better for sale currently.
1. Sleeve Laminated on front with NO Gem Logo on back (top right), no Mainman reference. EX!
2. Vinyl has the 3T/3T matrices with Bobil / Rasputin etched into run outs and obvious shiny/glossy labels. No Mainman reference. EX! Sounds fantastic.
3. Inner Sleeve with Blue print - Patent No & Made in England. These have usually been battered and replaced. Comes with spare sleeve to protect this one. VG+
4. Lyric Insert. VG•.
Laminated front to sleeve with the greenish tinge that was not present on later Matt pressings. The reverse of the sleeve is Matt, you can also see where the laminate overlaps the spine on to the back sleeve indicating a first press. There is NO Gem logo top right of sleeve which was rectified on the 2nd Laminated and subsequent Matt pressings. The sleeve is in Excellent condition, only minor issues are a little age related wear to reverse and a couple of minor creases. I’ve highlighted them on the photos. A really nice copy.
Vinyl is the very first pressing with 3T/3T Matrix numbers and Bobil / Rasputin in run out grooves. The labels are shiny, glossy and smooth without any dip/groove like subsequent 3T pressings, again indicating it is the very first pressing. There are a couple of superficial visual marks, nothing feelable to touch though. It plays great, I've attached a video which I hope will indicate how well it plays. I've recorded the some of first track on Side 1 - Changes, this has a quiet start and as you will hear there is minimal crackle and this gives an excellent indication of how well it sounds on the rest of the LP.
The inner sleeve is also the original with the blue text ‘Patent Number’ and ‘Made in England’. This is usually missing or replaced, this one is in excellent condition! How many copies have you seen with this? Not many I'm sure. I have removed the vinyl from the original inner to protect it. The lyric inner has a few minor marks here and there.
No reference to Mainman on sleeve, inner or labels.
This is an all round keeper copy (Vinyl, Sleeve & Inner Sleeve). It has all of the first press attributes and original inner sleeve.
