Description

DAVID BOWIE David Bowie ORIGINAL PHILIPS (Space Oddity) PRESS SBL 7912 STEREO
Philips SBL.7912

Stereo

This is the original UK Philips pressing of David Bowie's second studio album. Super rare and sought after.

Sleeve is in very good condition overall, with general storage wear and marks. There is a small mark above the Philips logo on the front cover and a slight bit of wear over Bowie's left eye, as can be seen in pictures. Rear is in great condition, with just some very light storage wear and no noticeable blemishes. Gatefold inner is in superb condition, with just a very light amount of wear around the outside edges as can be seen in pictures. Slight wear through at the top of the record insert sleeve, approximately 1.3cm and shown in close up in the pictures.  VG

Vinyl is in good condition overall, with generally light surface marks and a few deeper scratches. There are two scratches on the first track of side one, which a previous owner has tried to deal with in some way as can be seen in pictures, with one of the scratches partially over track two. The scratches can be heard, especially on quiet sections and the opening section of Space Oddity as it starts very quietly. These two scratches can be seen in the pictures with a £1 coin for scale.
There is also a very small scratch on track three of side one, which has also been 'dealt with' by the previous owner and can be heard briefly in that track. Entire album plays perfectly through however with no jumps and just some slight occasional background noise aside from the scratches mentioned. G

About This Sale

I am selling some gems from my father’s huge vinyl collection as he has decidedto sell most of it after around 60 years of collecting. It’s important to usthat these amazing records go to a good home and that the people that buy themare happy with their purchase, as such I’ve been as accurate as I can in thedescription and photographs, and have used the Record Collector Grading System(see below) to honestly grade each album. In the case of Buy It Now listings,we’ve set the price based on research of sales from dealers, plus sales oneBay, Amazon and Discogs. We’ve then taken a little off the price to be competitive!

Please check out my other listings for good deals on rare albums. I’ll beupdating the list as I sort through the collection, so check back regularly.

I have scoured the internet for the best LP mailers I could find and settled onthe CLP Bukwrap mailers which are described as ‘indestructible vinyl record mailers’, so each item will be packedin these with the record between the paper sleeve and the cover inside anenclosing heavy duty plastic wallet as per best mailing practice. Theseparticular mailers can take up to 6 albums, so bulk postage discount isavailable for more than one purchase. Please message me for details on this.
