Description
In 1982, a horror thriller titled 'Cat People' was released. It stars Nastassia Kinski and Malcom McDowell, with music featuring David Bowie (and produced by Giorgio Moroder). The theme song is sung by Bowie, and is called "Cat People (Putting Out Fire)", and interestingly enough, was remade and added to his smash hit album 'Let's Dance', in 1983 (FORTY years ago)! The original version from the movie differs from the remade album version. For one thing, Stevie Ray Vaughan plays on the remake!
When the movie was released, there was a premier at a movie theater in Los Angeles that gave away a 7" picture disc when you went to see the movie. Only a FEW were made and given out at this movie's premier. Two versions were made, with a different B side, but the same A side. This has never been available commercially, meaning it was never sold in record stores. Copies go anywhere from $140 or so to several hundred dollars. But not here, and not today!
Up for grabs is a copy of that rare and very scarce Bowie collectible! It's the black panther face on the A side, and movie credits on the B side. Vinyl looks to be in really good shape, with only a few very light surface marks that I can see. No scratches, gouges, or scuffs. I cannot vouch for the sound quality, as I never play specialty vinyl like pic discs and colored records. But it's a beauty, and would look great in a picture disc frame and proudly displayed!
But wait...there's more! I'll also throw in a copy of the movie, on DVD (NTSC Region 1). Widescreen, and TONS of special features. Disc looks new, and is still all shiny and clean! A sweet Bowie 'Cat People' double shot, with the rare 7" pic disc, and the movie on DVD! Make that Bowie fan in your life ECSTATIC this holiday season, or bring Bowie home for your very own! Either way, it's all good. (RIP Bowie. You were an amazing and influential talent, extremely funny and witty, and a great philanthropist. You are missed!)
