Description

DAVID AXELROD - 'SONG OF INNOCENCE.' STEREO.
UK 1st pressing on black/rainbow CAPITOL labels. ST 2982. (1968).
140 gram pressing. First issue matrix. EX-/EX. 'SOLD IN UK...' label text!

Extremely scarce as a UK pressing. Only a small handful of examples have been seen on eBay since 2005. Very desirable in original 1968 UK format!

UK front-laminated flipback sleeve grades EXCELLENT MINUS (EX-) to EXCELLENT (EX) condition. Intact, fully legible spine. The Black printed rear of sleeve shows barely any wear. Some extremely light ringwear that is all - quite expected for its age. Some laminate creasing along the spine area and on the front of the sleeve - but not at all bad overall.
Evidence of black colour touch-in (acrylic paint) bottom front right corner, approx 5x4 mm (Nicely done and hardly noticeable). No writing anywhere on sleeve.

Vinyl grades EXCELLENT MINUS (EX-) to EXCELLENT (EX) condition. Not overgraded at all. Fine example of this very psychy sounding progressive rock record. Labels are in amazing condition.

A truly mind-expanding and ground breaking album. Great tracks throughout and truly inspired music from the first track until the last. You can hear where Lalo Schifrin and many others got some of their ideas from. Way ahead of its time - possibly to be considered one of the earliest 'fusion' albums. Axelrod used the cream of session musicians on this recording, including Howard Roberts on Guitar.  It sounds awesome on the glossy, deep groove, heavy original UK vinyl format.

Edgy violins, fuzzed out psych guitar, jazzy basslines, incredible beats, beautiful orchestrations - it's all here! Sampled dozens of times on various rap and R&B tracks in more recent years. An essential album.

I am sure the winner will be very pleased with this copy.

Includes the original inner sleeve.

Vinyl weight: 140 GRAMS.

My packaging materials are included in the postage price. Packaging works out at about £1.00. I use two cardboard cruciform mailers (alternating the cardboard grain) and package extremely well with loads of brown parcel tape.
