SHO' KNOW A LOT ABOUT LOVE / MIDNIGHT SPECIAL ... 7-inch, 45rpm single by DAVE DAVANI & THE D-MEN. Original UK pressing on the DECCA label (F. 11896), from 1964. Monster UK mod soul / garage freakbeat rarity and fantastic examples of the genre. This is their desirable 2nd single featuring the thunderous SHO' KNOW A LOT ABOUT LOVE anthem. Raw lead vocals a la Georgie Fame over agitated / amphetamine inspired rhythm hooks / harmonica / gritty rock 'n' roll cum tittyshaker guitar solo and psychedelic hammond organ vamps. Really primitive and infectious mod rock rhythms. Great for DJs. Outro to die for too. The MIDNIGHT SPECIAL side is also superb. Delirious twist and shout R&B rocker with unknown backing singers. Comped on New Rubble Volume 3. Sparse, kitchen sink production by Denis Preston. This iconic English group later recorded the ultimate theme tune for the BBC television music show, Top of the Pops Original 4-prong centre intact. Our record grading: SEALED / M- / VG++ / VG+ / VG
Vinyl is close to shiny M- condition with a few light hairlines from sleeve removal. Taken from an unplayed deadstock of records and played once for the recording of the soundclip. Record housed in original Decca label custom sleeve. Archive sticker and archive number in pen (front and back). Sleeve has wear / a few tears and creasing. Very rare 45!!!
