DARRELL BANKS - DARRELL BANKS IS HERE!
1967 US MONO 12" LP 1st pressing, on the sought after ATCO label, ATCO 33-216
Matrix Numbers : Side 1 C - 12551 - A, stampers W, A1 LW; Side 2 C - 12552 - A, stampers W, AT LW
An excellent copy of this mid-60's northern soul classic
Both sides of the vinyl really do shine and in "normal" light look almost perfect. Under a bright halogen light there are a number of wispy hairlines (mainly inner sleeve paper scuffs), however, and the occasional light, small and strictly surface-only scuff. It really is difficult to notice these minor blemishes in normal light and the vinyl's appearance is truly excellent.
The matt finished Loring Euterney outer sleeve is similarly excellent, with stuck-on reverse side and the front -sided Lee Friedlander photo virtually perfect, with all the vibrancy of the original photo fully in order. Each corner suffers from some slight rubbing and there is a little scuffing towards the right on the top edge. Apart from that the condition of the edges remains remarkable and the spine remains rigid and fully intact. The erverse side suffers from no age discolouration and is near mint - no marks, no unwanted writing - gorgeous!
The quality of the audio is VG+. There is some occasional very light background crackle and it is this alone which prevents me from grading the audio quality as excellent, although having just listened to the entire album I am sorely tempted to go "excellent" as every track is a great listen. I'll go with "VG+" but in many people's books it would be an "excellent".
Each label is perfect - I can't even detect the usual faint spindle trail.
The track listing is :
Side 1:
1. HERE COME THE TEARS
2. I'VE GOT THAT FEELING
3. I'M GONNA HANG MY HEAD AND CRY
4. LOOK INTO THE EYES OF A FOOL
5. OUR LOVE (IS IN THE POCKET)
Side 2 :
1. OPEN THE DOOR TO YOUR HEART
2. ANGEL BABY (DON'T YOU EVER LEAVE ME)
3. SOMEBODY (SOMEWHERE NEEDS YOU)
4. BABY WHAT'CHA GOT (FOR ME)
5. YOU BETTER GO
Comes with original ATCO inner sleeve - no splits and still fully functional, and itself a sought after piece of memorabilia
I have to admit that I am primarily a rock and pop man and I picked up this album in a batch of rock albums at a car boot sale years and years ago, and it's sat on the shelf since then unplayed. I've played it this afternoon for grading purposes for the first time and don't mind admitting that I was knocked out - what a great album, what a brilliant singer! I'm now wondering what I've been missing out on all of these years! (But now I'm retired I have the time to investigate further...exciting!).

If you require any further information, including photos, then let me know and I'll do my best to oblige.
A bit about myself : I have been collecting UK vinyl for over 45 years and have amassed a huge collection covering a varied genre, but mostly of 1960's and 70's origin. I worked in IT for 22 years before doing a complete career change to teach Maths in a high school at the ripe old age of 45 - probably the best career move that I ever made. I took great joy in indulging the "kids" in my eclectic collection of 60's and 70's vinyl, even once dedicating a whole PSE session to the Genesis classic ""Foxtrot". But now I am retired and a combination of space requirements and a need to help fund my retirement has prompted me to "rationalise" my record collection and sell many of my much loved gems.
My ebay feedback speaks for itself so rest assured that you are buying from a trusted seller, and in the very unlikely event that you are unhappy with your purchase just e-mail me and I'll sort out the problem. I offer a "no questions asked" refund policy.
On the subject of postage, I take great care in the packaging of all items, using a proper vinyl cardboard mailer along with at least two cardboard stiffeners. I take care in removing the record from the outer sleeve and properly protecting it in a separate white inner sleeve in order to prevent outer sleeve damage in transit, and for items that sell for over £40 to non-UK bidders I insist upon postal insurance so please wait for an invoice before paying. I do NOT profiteer from postage costs. I DO take great care in minimising all risk thereby ensuring, as far as possible, that your purchase reaches it's destination in exactly the same condition as when I post it. Richard
