Cullen Knight - "Looking Up" - Private Jazz
Artist: Cullen Knight
Album: Looking Up
Catalog #: Tree Top Records 4182
Record Grade: NM, beautiful shiny gloss, LP surface looks flawless, as if it was 1978 all over again, labels pristine, check the sounds clip!
Cover Grade: NM still in shrink wrap!, $.99 sticker on shrink wrap not album itself
Album Info: Hard to find any copy of this LP, let alone one in such brilliant condition. For those that know, this is an amazing jazz album, with latin and african flourishes. The album is all original tunes from Cullen Knight, and Leon Mitchell. Personnel on the album is: Cullen Knight, trumpet/fluegel horn; Kenny Barron, Electric Piano; Monnette Sudler, guitar; Charles Fanbrough, Bass; Bobby Durham, Drums/Latin Percussion; Bootsie Barns, tenor; Fred Joiner, Trombone; Jimmy Batton, Electric Piano; Gerald Smith, Guitar; Kenny Davis, Electric Bass; Newman Baker, drums; Ed Watkins, Latin percussions; Leon Mitchell, Composer
Aside from the ground breaking cover art (for 1978) the music is beautifully produced and a great addition to any jazz collection. To my knowledge Mr. Knight has been contacted about any dead stock of this LP, and there are no more, so get it now while you can. No reserve, and low starting bid.

MY GRADING
Near Mint ("NM" AKA "M-")
A nearly perfect record. The record shows no obvious signs of wear, vinyl looks flawless. The LP cover has no creases, folds, seam splits or other noticeable similar defects. No cut-out holes, either. Basically, a grade of near mint condition is as if you just got it home from a new record store and removed the shrink wrap.
Very Good Plus ("VG+")
Very Good Plus records will show some signs that it was played and otherwise handled by a previous owner who took good care of it. Record surfaces may show some signs of wear and may have slight scuffs or very light scratches that don't affect one's listening experiences. Slight warps that do not affect the sound may exist. The label may have some ring wear or discoloration, but it should be barely noticeable. The center hole will not have been misshapen by repeated play. LP inner sleeves will have some slight wear, lightly turned up corners, or a slight seam split. An LP cover may have slight signs of wear also and may be marred by a cut-out hole, indentation or corner indicating it was taken out of print and sold at a discount. In general, if not for a couple things wrong with it, this would be Near Mint.
Very Good ("VG")
Many of the defects found in a VG+ record will be more pronounced in a VG disc. Surface noise will be evident upon playing, especially in soft passages and during a song's intro and fade, but will not overpower the music otherwise. Groove wear will start to be noticeable, as with light scratches (deep enough to feel with a fingernail) that will affect the sound. Labels may be marred by writing, or have tape or stickers (or their residue) attached. The same will be true of LP covers. However, it will not have all of these problems at the same time, only two or three of them.
I DO NOT USE THE GRADE OF "M" NOR DO I SELL ANY RECORDS BELOW "VG"
MAILING
I mail all records in corrugated LP mailers, so that the LP is reinforced by extra cardboard. LP's are shipped outside the sleeve, to prevent undue ringwear. Please note I ship to the domestic United States of America only. If you are outside the USA please do not bid. I reserve the right to cancel all international bids.
