Cream – Goodbye, released in February 1969, stands as both a farewell and a final flourish from one of rock’s most influential power trios. Comprised of Eric Clapton (guitar/vocals), Jack Bruce (bass/vocals), and Ginger Baker (drums), Cream had already transformed the rock landscape with their potent fusion of blues, jazz, psychedelic rock, and extended improvisation. But by the time Goodbye was being recorded, tensions within the band were high, and the group had already announced their breakup. The album is both a curtain call and a parting gift, mixing live firepower with studio polish.
