Here’s the deal on this LP. The lead singer for Yezda Urfa was Rick Rodenbaugh. He was a friend of mine since the early 1970’s when I first met him. He was one hell of a great guy who is sorely missed. Those years were crazy but we had one hell of a time. At least that’s what we had been told. Rick died on March 5, 2008. He left behind a wife and daughter who are struggling. I have 3 auctions going now with Yezda Urfa & related LP’s. These were Rick’s personal copies & have to be sold because money is needed by his wife & daughter. I’m paying all eBay fees etc. so that they don’t have to put out a dime. We’re talking pennies though. These are the only copies they have & I feel bad that they have to sell them at all. There is no copy of Boris…yet. Before Rick died he told me that he had one personal copy of Boris left. The search is on for that copy. They don’t want to sell Boris either but they have to. Due to a recent move, wife & daughter are still unpacking. I sure hope they find it because these few LP’s here have a fraction of the value of Boris & won’t do much for them financially.
This is a still sealed copy of Crafty Hands from 1982 on Danger Dog Records – Kryptic Music. Three of the guys from Yezda Urfa are on this LP. Mark Tippins, the amazing guitarist, Rick the vocalist, & Phil Kimbrough who played keys, flute, recorder, mandolin, accordion, etc. for Urfa. Denny Baker was the fourth guy in Crafty Hands. I don’t know him but he had to have been the drummer since Brad wasn’t in the band. I think Urfa was way ahead of their time. Many of us back in the day thought they were great musicians but musically we preferred Crafty Hands who were somewhat progressive, melodic, & pop oriented. There are some great tunes on this LP. I’ve seen this described as psych & everything else you can imagine. It is exactly what I said it is. The front cover has 2 stickers on the shrink & there is a split along part of the opening.
