CONDITION DETAILS Numbered, 200 gram MSFL Half-Speed Limited Edition, mastered from the original master tapes. Vinyl plays perfectly (play-graded in it's entirety). Gate-fold cover looks great. Inner-gate/back-cover have no issues. MSFL insert/folder included. Inner sleeve is original (static-free). Spine is unbroken, clean, and easy-to-read. Little-to-no shelf-wear along the top and bottom-edge. Opening is crisp. (This record is not a cut-out.)
ABOUT THE RECORD April in Paris is a 1957 jazz album by Count Basie. The album is one of the first to include an arrangement by Neal Hefti, who would go on to write many of the Basie band's most acclaimed songs, including many on the Atomic Basie album. The single April in Paris peaked at #8 on Billboard Rhythm and Blues Singles and #28 on Billboard Hot 100. According to a reviewer on allmusic.com, "one of the staples in the Count Basie discography, April in Paris is one of those rare albums that makes its mark as an almost instant classic in the jazz pantheon. April in Paris represents the reassembly of the original Count Basie orchestra that define swing in the 1930s and 1940s. The title track has come to define elegance in orchestral jazz. Key tracks include Corner Pocket and Magic. Recorded in 1955 and 1956, April in Paris proved Count Basie's ability to grow through modern jazz changes while keeping the traditional jazz orchestra vital and alive."
