Description

Unique opportunity! In the early 1960s a visitor from Denmark to Trinidad bought back a vinyl storage folder booklet with 16 different 7" records from the label COOK.
These records were a treasured souvenir from the warm and friendly stay on the wonderful islands with its exotic music. At home the combination of calypso, proto-reggae, latin jazz and other grooves were a little to distant and soon the folder were stored away for the next 60 years.
Due to Danish climate - lower temperatures and lower humidity - compared to the tropical island of Trinidad, the records were preserved insanely well. Of course they display some wear from being caried around in the plastic folders, dust that may have entered, or even defects originating from the production plant or during the trip home. However, these records that I will slowly list are probably the best surving copies of these 60+ years old albums. In order to remove any doubt about what you are bidding on, I have added the images of the actual record you are bidding on both here and to the discogs entries, but ALSO filmed the single being played in full, both sides, and uploaded the content to youtube. The youtube single or the discogs main photos are exactly what you are bidding on. This will allow you to detect pressing issues otherwise not visible on the vinyl or allow you to decide if this is exactly what you need by listening to a room recording of the record.
Emory Cook (1913-2002) was an audio engineer and inventor who used his Sounds of our Times and Cook Laboratories record labels to demonstrate his philosophy about sound, his recording equipment, and his manufacturing techniques. From 1952 to 1966 Cook recorded, manufactured, and distributed some of the highest quality audio recordings in the world. The titles on Cook Records include European and American concert music, U.S. and Caribbean popular and traditional music, as well as mechanical and natural sounds. Over a quarter of these albums of the label contained music from the Caribbean, many featuring calypso or steel bands. Many recordings were made in the field rather than by bringing musicians to a studio, with Cook traveling around Trinidad in particular, recording music wherever he heard it. The music of Trinidad and Tobago is best known for its calypso music, soca music, chutney music, and steelpan. Calypso's internationally noted performances in the 1950s from native artists such as Lord Melody, Lord Kitchener and Mighty Sparrow.
Shipping of course as you expect. Well packed and with tracking. Need to combine - no worries. I can hold and ship together as I do combine. No extras.
The Single is UPLOADED to Youtube. See and listen here: https://youtu.be/ZqPnA4bQec8
Here is the info from discogs - the vinyl looks fine with no marks. Grading vg+
