Complete Apple Beatles White Album First Issue SWBO-101

One of the Beatles finest achievements, but one on which the schisms within the band began to show, the 1968 LP "The Beatles", now known as the "White Album" was a must-have for Christmas that year. A double LP, it was filled with instant classic Beatle songs, many with a sound never heard before. Once again, the Beatles had taken rock into a new era.

When first released on Apple records, LP SWBO-101 had a snow white gatefold cover, with a sequential serial number printed on the cover that was otherwise barren except for the embossed "The Beatles" lettering. Inside were four glossy (at least for the initial release) color portraits of the individual Beatles and a fold-open collage poster that featured all of the song lyrics on its rear. That is exactly how we present this copy for auction. This record even has the correct Apple paper dust sleeves without a center label cut-out and includes one of the very difficult to find photo protector sheets, here of thin white glossy paper. The poster looks to have never been unfolded, much less hung up. All four of the photos are here and Near Mint, too, on the thicker, glossy stock of the first issue.

Outside, the cover has not a whisper of dirt or wear, a truly remarkable feat given that there is nothing to hide any soil. Except for a slight bump at the top edge, there are no flaws on the cover, its seams, spine or inner surfaces, except for a trace of yellowing toward the mouth edge. The serial number is well up there, over 2 million and this is the version with the "No. " prefix before the serial number.

True first issue discs with the Apple label that do carry the Capitol logo, the labels are flawless with crisp, sharp spindle holes. We would have to visually grade the vinyl itself as NM-. They appear almost as new and, as nothing is true Mint, there is a hairline scuff on Side 4 across Tracks 1 & 2 that does not affect play. There is some background hiss, so we will playgrade the discs as VG+ just to play safe.

Rarely found anymore, first issue copies of the White Album are now very difficult to locate, particularly in this condition and completeness. An opportunity not to be missed, this is the finest copy we have encountered in many years. It is of collectible and investment grade and looks to be missing only the shrink wrap.

Condition: Condition is rated on a scale of C1 to C10, with C10 being a flawless, perfect condition. Our grading is inherently very conservative. We are collectors ourselves and grade accordingly.

Payment: Payment is expected within 10 (ten) days of notification by OUR initial email. We do not use the eBay checkout system - ignore all checkout procedures other than our email. Please wait for our Invoice before contacting us or remitting any payments. We Invoice the day after the auctions close, but some customers, especially AOL users have been experiencing difficulty in receiving our emailed Invoices. Postal or Bank Money Orders or Certified Checks (not a Teller’s or Bank check) preferred. Personal, business or non-Certified checks are accepted but can take up to three weeks to clear before shipment of item. We accept credit card payments only through PayPal or BidPay for US bidders only. Non-US buyers must pay only by US$ Cash sent registered, BidPay or PayPal (only when NOT funded by a Credit Card).

Shipping: Actual freight and mandatory insurance costs are the responsibility of the purchaser. No item over $15 in value is sent without full insurance, for our mutual protection. Most all parcels are sent by US Priority Mail service, which allows us to utilize USPS provided materials at no cost and pass these savings along to our customers. We do not bill any other shipping or handling charges except the actual shipping expenses if sent by Priority Mail. Parcels too large or bulky for Priority will be sent by either UPS, Airborne or FedEx and may incur additional packaging costs which will ALWAYS be stated in the ad description. Foreign orders will incur significantly higher postage and are sent WITHOUT insurance (your risk!). All foreign parcels will be declared as "Merchandise" on the Customs tag, declared for the purchase amount.

Returns: Please be mindful that many of our items are consignment pieces from various sources. We take great pains to describe all of our items in explicit detail. For these reasons, all sales are final and returns are granted only in cases of our gross misrepresentation! Any claims for return must be made within seven (7) days of receipt. No refunds given for incoming or outgoing freight costs.
