Description
Stunning very Near Mint condition.
1st Edition of this 1961 Columbia release with silver/blue labels and matrix stamps YAX 408-6/YAX 409-7.
Rare, highly collectible and highly unusual to find it in this amazing condition. I've never seen an early Columbia SAX LP as good as this. It's as close to Near Mint all round as you are likely to find.
Gradings (Sleeve/Disc):
Record collector = M/EX (close to M)
Discogs = NM/VG+ (close to NM)
Condition:
Sleeve is in Mint condition. No damage, very glossy flip-back sleeve. Absolutely no discolouration of the back cover, which is rarely seen on these releases after 60+ years. See photos. Original 'Musical Centres of the World' inner sleeve also present and in great condition.
The LP is beautifully glossy. No damage or marks to the labels. Side two as new. On side one, under very bright light, you can see a few very light surface lines and a spindle line on the playing surface. Not visible under normal lighting. Record has been played through on a high end system and there is no effect of this on the sound. I'm probably being a bit over cautious as this is as close to a a full near mint condition copy as you are likely to find, but just want the buyer to know what to expect. Only very light background crackle in the silent grooves when you turn the volume up high. The sound quality is amazing, a full rich, clear and 3D sound. The famous Adante descent through the orchestra at the end of the Fourth Movement is utterly stunning and free of any surface noise. A genuinely great copy of a great recording and performance.
Disc has been placed in a Spincare protective audiophile vinyl archive inner sleeve (3 layers of antistatic, antiscratch, antidust HDPE plastic and a layer of rice paper) to keep it protected.
UK postage in a mutilayer LP mailer at cost stated. For overseas postage please contact me before bidding to get a quote.
