One-Sided 10” 78 rpm Shellac Released 1902
Commonly recognized as the Monty Python theme song, this is a very rare old single-sided record, turning 111 years old this year. This is one of the earliest label designs for Columbia, called the “pre-conditions” label because they had not yet started printing the “Conditions Of Sale” on the label; furthermore, this is the first version of the pre-conditions label, with a silver ring around the edge - it was only used for about two years in 1902 & 1903. The song is uncredited, but is known to be done by the Columbia house band, under the direction of John Phillip Sousa. A very scarce early Columbia piece.
