"Is Everybody Happy?"
Rare Ted Lewis Show (4)Transcription Discs Lot Available
Up for your consideration is a 4 Transcription Discs Lot of "The Ted Lewis Show",
a Chartoc-Colman Production, Chicago Illinois
Recorded and pressed by Columbia Recording Corporation,
a subsidiary of Columbia Broadcasting System, Inc.
The lot consists of a test pressing of Program 3 Part 1, regular disc of Program 3 and 4 Part 2, and Program 27 Part 1 and 2 (2 disc set). The Ted Lewis Show is for the most part a lost treasure of old time radio shows. Not entirely, because it is available here but difficult to locate elsewhere (for sale or not for sale).
The Transcription Discs are 16" in diameter and plays at 33 1/3 RPM
Based on the design of the label and the content of the disc, we believe
this disc dates from the '40's. My research has led me to believe that the Ted Lewis Show was aired during 1947. This is consistent with the time frame in which the musical note and microphone logo of CBS was in use. The airing date was confirmed by the Ted Lewis Museum.
For condition information please see below and images:
The first disc is the Program 3 Part 1 Test pressing. The Program and Part information is hand written on the disc label, as well as the words "Ted Lewis, re-make". The only thing present is a bit of dust.
The next disc contains Program 3 Part 2 and Program 4 Part 2. The Program 3 side, on label has slight spotting, nothing major. On the Program 3 side, on the inner area of the disc (not label) there is what appears to be a mark that feels mostly like a scuff but on a little bit of the mark, it feels like a shallow scratch. Both sides have slight dust, nothing to be concerned about.
The disc containing Program 27 Part 1 only has a piece of the edge of the disc missing. Please refer to its images to see size relative to the size of the disc. Other than that, all that is present is some slight dust.
The fourth disc contains Program 27 Part 2. The only thing present is a little dust. Nothing to be concerned about.
The four sleeves have program information written on them. Three of the sleeves have several tiny edge tears on top. One sleeve is in particularly excellent condition. One of the sleeves has miscellaneous writing on it. Two of the sleeves are CBS circa 1940's sleeves and therefore are probably the originals. Another sleeve is an Audiodiscs sleeve (Audio Devices, Inc.). The last sleeve is blank, nothing typed on it.
These discs were acquired from a public University,
which we are commissioned to sell for.
