LABEL: Third World LP 12272 (1972)
TITLE: Communications Network
CONDITION:
Sleeve: VG+ / The front cover has some light creasing along the top left corner, 4 light creases at the top right corner (3 very small and one 4"). Also has just a whisper of ring wear and what looks like some light moisture caused waviness along the bottom section but it's not stained. The back cover has just a bit more wear, a few tiny light stain spots and a hint of light staining along the bottom. Has some light bottom seam wear w/ a little more on the top seam w/ tiny spots of wear on the right corners. The spine is intact.
Record: I play graded this entire LP. Side A is super clean and plays Mint- except for what sounds like a one revolution dropout about a 1/4" into the side. The rest plays Mint- / Side B looks really clean as well but has a few tiny light nicks around the middle of the side that cause a few light background ticks. It also has a light thump at about the same spot as the dropout on Side A. The rest of Side B also plays Mint- / I couldn't really see anything that caused either of the abnormalities at the beginning of each side under a strong grading light. / VPI cleaned. By the spindle hole it looks like this LP may have been played once.
COMMENTS: Original copy of this rare 1972 private press Free & Spiritual Jazz LP on Clifford's own Third World Records. Super cool period cover! Side A was recorded Jan 22, 1972 at ABC Stage City, NYC. Side B features the legendary Jayne Cortez and Nathan Davis and was recorded live April 17, 1972 at the Festival of African American Music.
