Vinyl is in VG/VG+ shape. It has many surface marks and light scratches, but does not skip or have any major damage.
The "47 West 63rd - New York 23" labels are in great shape with the famous "deep groove" underneath. Has the "RVG" and "The Ear" in the trailoff.
The laminated cover is in VG+ shape, with two split seams, 1)- about 1" on the bottom edge right corner and 2)- the top edge about 2/3rds of the way across. The laminate is coming loose a bit near the mouth edge but not missing. The back cover has some discoloration and also the West 63rd address at the bottom.
This early John Gilmore session was recorded shortly after he joined Sun Ra. Sun Ra Arkestra was Gilmore's main gig for most of his life. "Blowing In From Chicago" is a rare example of Gilmore's playing before he adapted the more unorthodox Sun Ra style.
