Classic Theater Performances: 6 Boxed Record Sets: O'Neill, Williams, Beckett ++

Up for sale is a lot of six (6) box sets of 33 RPM vinyl LP records, each containing a complete performance of a major ancient (1 box set) or modern (5 box sets) play.  Each performance is from a top notch director and stars some of the most important actors and actresses of the second half of of the 20th Century.    Each box set contains from 2 to 4 records for a total of 18 records in the entire lot.

The lot consists of ALL of the following:

Box Set 1 (of 6)

• Title:  The Glass Menagerie
  
• Author:  Tennessee Williams
• Record Label:  Caedmon
• Album Number:  TRS 301
• Two records (4 sides)
  
• Year Issued:  1964  (This is said to have been the very first issue of Caedmon's theater series).
• This production (which was specifically done for the Caedmon audio recording) was directed by Howard Sackler.  It stars Montgomery Clift (in the role of Tom), Julie Harris (in the role of Laura),  Jessica Tandy (in the role of Amanda), and David Wayne (in the role of the Gentleman Caller).
• Condition notes:  There is slight wear to the top corner of the box.
  

Box Set 2 (of 6)

• Title:  Antigone
  
• Author:  Sophocles

• Two records (4 sides)
  
• Year Issued:  1968
  
• This production (which was specifically done for the Caedmon audio recording) was directed by Howard Sackler.  It stars Dorothy Tutuin (in the role of Antigone), Max Adrian (in the role of Creon),  Jeremy Brett (in the role of Haimon), Eileen Atkins (in the role of Ismene), and Geoffrey Dunn (in the role of Teiresias).
• Condition notes:  The top of the front of the box has at one point been bent back causing a crease and a small tear.
  

Box Set 3 (of 6)

• Title:  Mourning Becomes Electra
  
• Author:  Eugene O'Neill

• Year Issued:  1971
  
• This production was directed by Michael Kahn and is identified as The American Shakespeare Festival Theatre Production.  It stars Jane Alexander (in the role of Lavinia), Lee Richardson (in the role of Brigadier General Ezra Mannon),  Peter Thompson (in the role of Orin), and Sada Thompson (in the role of Christine).
• Condition notes:  There are a good number of small blemishes to the paper surface of the front cover.  There are a few numbers written in ink inside the front cover.
  

Box Set 4 (of 6)

• Title:  Long Day's Journey Into Night

• Year Issued:  1971 
  
• This production was directed by Arvin Brown and is identified as an Edgar Lansbury - Jay H. Fuchs - Stuart Duncan - Joseph Beruh Production.  It stars Robert Ryan (in the role of James Tyrone), Stacy Keach (in the role of James Tyrone, Jr.),  Geraldine Fitzgerald (in the role of Mary Tyrone), James Naughton,(in the role of Edmund Tyrone), and Paddy Croft (in the role of Cathleen ).
• Condition notes:  There is ink tracing inside the white lettering of the title (on the front cover).  There is ink tracing and doodling around and on the figure on the left side of the front cover.  There are ink marks on the rear cover surrounding the commentary and filling in the "O" in the playwrights last name.  There are a few numbers written in ink inside the front cover.

• Year Issued:  1973
  
• This production  was directed by Herbert Berghof and is identified as a production of Michael Myerberg..  It stars Bert Lahr (in the role of Estragon (Gogo)), E. G. Marshall (in the role of Vladimir (Didi), and Kurt Kaszner (in the role of Pozzo).
• Condition notes:  There is wear to one of the upper corners of the album cover such that some of the yellow paper is missing.  There is a short tear in the lid of the box at that corner.  The inner sleeves of the records of this set are more generic than the ones for the other sets.
  

Box Set 6 (of 6)

• Title:  The Iceman Cometh
  
• Author:  Eugene O'Neill

• Four records (8 sides)
  
• Year Issued:  1973
• This production was directed by John Frankenheimer and was presented by American Express Films, Inc. and the Ely Landau Organization, Inc.  It stars Lee Marvin (in the role of Hickey), Fredric March (in the role of Harry Hope), Robert Ryan (in the role of Larry Slade), Jeff Bridges (in the role of Don Parritt), and Bradford Dillman (in the role of Willie Oban).
• Condition notes;  The paper hinge that connects the left side the upper and lower portions of the album cover has been torn through.  Therefore, one opens this set by lifting the top of the box off the bottom, rather than by turning back (to the left) the top of the box.
