Classic Records Saint-Saens Symphony No. 3 "Organ" 1997 1st pressing
RARE Original Master Recording Audiophile Pressing -- Classic Records LSC-2341
Stereo 4-LP 45 RPM 180 gram set -- Still Sealed first edition
Classic Records first edition (1997) Quiex super virgin vinyl original master recording 180 gram 45 RPM LPs still sealed in Mint condition! This set has been stored in a protective plastic sleeve (to protect against shelfwear) and between cardboard liners (to protect against ringwear) in a smoke & pet-free, climate controlled home. I purchased this when it was first released by Classic Records and have carefully stored and protected it ever since.
There are four 180 Gram LPs in this set. This was the first 45 RPM pressing of this title, released in 1997. This album was mastered by Bernie Grundman from the original RCA Living Stereo master tapes using an all analogue system and pressed on high grade virgin vinyl at RTI for the ultimate in audiophile sound. There are no cutout marks, seam splits, ringwear, abrasions, or any other issues with this item.
This 1990's Classic 180 gram version is far superior to the later 200 gram Classic version, which like many other 200 gram Classic pressings suffered from inconsistent pressing quality and vinyl formulation issues. According to a recent article in the New York TImes, First pressings, which come as close to the original master disc as possible, matter to audiophiles. “When a record is new, a lot of attention is put on it,” said Michael Hobson, owner of High-Fidelity, which sells records and stereo gear in Los Feliz, Calif. “In subsequent re-pressings, quality tends to slip.” Mr. Hobson knows this better than anyone. If his name sounds familiar, it should. He founded and until recently ran a company called... Classic Records. :)
