Chunks was released by New Alliance Records from Lawndale, California in 1981. Chunks is a compilation album released by New Alliance Records featuring various artists, including tracks from bands like the Minutemen and Black Flag. The label was known for supporting early punk and alternative music from the 1980s until it ceased operations in 1998. New Alliance Records played a significant role in the early careers of influential punk and alternative bands, contributing to the music scene in Southern California.The label was founded in 1980 by Minutemen members D. Boon and Mike Watt, along with friend Martin Tamburovich. Early releases by the label included records by the Minutemen, Descendents, and Hüsker Dü. Mike Watt sold the label to Greg Ginn in 1986 after D. Boon's death. Greg reissued several of the label's releases through SST Records while using the New Alliance name to issue a number of spoken word releases, as well as some more musically adventurous bands. New Alliance stopped releasing albums in the mid '90s and its back catalog has been deleted. '-'
