Chris Farlowe With The Hill ?– From Here To Mama Rosa - 1ST PRESS POLYDOR EX

This product data sheet is originally written in English.

Chris Farlowe With The Hill – From Here To Mama Rosa -  POLYDOR 24-4041 1970
Following the dissolution of Immediate Records, Chris Farlowe cut this album with the band the Hill, which was comprised of Bruce Waddell on bass, Colin Davey on drums, Peter Robinson on keyboards, Steve Hammond, late of Fat Mattress, on guitar. with Paul Buckmaster filling in the last spot on cello. The results were a strange but beautiful amalgam of bluesy hard rock and progressive rock, highlighted by "Black Sheep" and "Mama Rosa" (a song about a drug dealer). It was all a new style for Farlowe, a British soul shouter who was good enough to share billing with Otis Redding and one that worked astonishingly well, and served as something of a bridge to his work with Colosseum. He shares the spotlight here with a very busy organist (with lots of cadenzas) and an extremely talented guitarist, but it all holds together and, in fact, is some of the most powerful progressive rock you're likely ever to hear.(Bruce Eder, allmusic.com)

Some incredible songs on this 1967 album from composer Reid King who married the Brazilian sound with
popular music of that era to produce an album that should have really taken off then, but due to the strange
setup of Canterbury Records who were in business to lose money for a Mattel tax shelter, the album was allowed
to die on the vine by Canterbury when it started to take off with airplay and sales. Reid King went on to become
one of the foremost composers of contemporary music for the gut-string guitar.

FINALLY ONE LAST WORD RE HAIRLINES, IT IS ALMOST IMPOSSIBLE TO FIND ANY NON SEALED RECORD WITHOUT THEM, MANY HAD THEM FROM NEW. MOSTLY THEY ARE A RESULT OF STORAGE AND USE AND USUALLY HAVE LITTLE IMPACT ON THE SOUND QUALITY. THE SAME GOES FOR BACKGROUND NOISE, UNFORTUNATELY ALL RECORDS WILL HAVE SOME AND THIS VARIES AND REFLECTS THE PRESSING QUALITY.

Most records have production marks where someone touched or moved the vinyl while it was still semi-soft. These marks look like smudges, but are not scratches or "paper scuffs" and do not usually sound. Untouched vinyl from newly-opened records have these marks.

 RECOMMENDED!

FULLY GUARANTEED!
