 4 8x10 INCH 1950's PUBLICITY STILLS AND A DEMO ACETATE TRANSCRIPTION DISC OF JANIE SINGING 3 BALLADS.

THE PUBLICITY STILLS ARE IN PRETTY NICE CONDITION AND THE ACETATE IS GENERALLY VG+.  THERE IS A POP ON THE FIRST GROOVE, BUT PLAYS QUITE WELL WITH MINIMAL NOISE.  JANIE SINGS THREE BALLADS, NONE OF WHICH I RECOGNIZE, BUT FROM THE LYRICS I MIGHT GUESS - MUSIC OF THE ANGELS, TELL HIM ABOUT JOHNNY & YOU'LL SEE ME ON THE MUSIC SHOW.

Storyline

On the death of popular national radio commentator Herb Fuller, underling Joe Harris undertakes to prepare an hour long, eulogistic program featuring interviews with Fuller's friends. But, though Fuller was beloved by 150 million of what all the pros term the "great unwashed," all Harris can find is victims, cynical users, and outright enemies of Fuller. Is this where the magic of editing comes in?

A Welles Copy?

This is a very interesting film for a variety of reasons. In many ways, it's a CITIZEN KANE knock-off, but sometimes in reverse. We see the reporter who is putting together the story of the great man, but we never see the great man himself. As in "Kane," the ex-wife is an alcoholic singer. There is also a "Rosebud" of sorts-a deathbed obscenity. Well worth watching!

Timi Yuro signed with Liberty Records and had a U.S. Billboard No. 4 hit single in 1961
with "Hurt". On "Hurt" and on her Billboard No. 12 follow-up in 1962, "What's a Matter
Baby?, Yuro showed an emotional but elegant vocal style that owed a debt to Dinah
Washington and other black jazz singers, who were her early influences. Many listeners in
the early 1960s thought Yuro was black. She opened for Frank Sinatra on his 1961 tour of
Australia to rave reviews.  In 1963, Liberty released Make the World Go Away, an album
of country and blues standards. The singer at her vocal peak, this recording includes a
powerful title track of the same name, a beautifully understated version of Willie Nelson's
"Permanently Lonely", and two different blues takes of "I'm Movin' On" before leaving
Liberty.  She went on to Mercury records in 1964 where she released "The Amazing Timi
Yuro" with the legendary Quincy Jones.  After struggling at Mercury,for four years, she
went back to Liberty to record her final album there, "Something Bad on My Mind", which
contains her UK Northern Soul classic "It'll Never Be Over for Me". Yuro was also known
for soulful reworkings of popular American standards, such as "Let Me Call You
Sweetheart", "Smile", and "I Apologize".  In the 1960s, Yuro made two TV appearances on
The Ed Sullivan Show. and guested and hosted American Bandstand several times, She also
appeared on Shivaree, Hollywood-a-Go-Go, Ready Steady Go, Johnny Carson Show and
many other television programs. In 1967, Yuro sang in a comedy film in the Philippines
titled Buhay Marino (Life of a Sailor). She also sang the title tracks on the 1962 film "Satan
Never Sleeps" and the 1968 film "Interlude".  By the late 1960s, Yuro had performed in
venues from London to Las Vegas. However, her career soon lost its early momentum,
and she quit the music business altogether after her marriage in 1969. In 1979  Yuro lost
her voice for nearly two years to throat cancer.  Amazingly when she began to sing again
in 1981, she had a triple platinum hit album in The Netherlands in 1981 with "All Alone
Am I"  making her updated recording of "Hurt" a top charting single along with the title
song exactly 20 years later.  She followed in early 1982 with the LP "I'm Yours".  Her last
recording was the album "Today", which was released in late 1982 by Ariola and produced
by her old friend Willie Nelson.  After appearing in concert and on television in the early
1980's, the cancer returned taking her voice permanently and she eventually passed from it
in  2004 in her Las Vegas home.  She is deeply missed.
