Description
Considered by music historians to be the first true Rock & Roll record, "Rocket 88" was recorded in Memphis by Sam Phillips in 1951. Jackie Brenston & His Delta Cats with Ike Turner on piano came from Clarksdale, MS. On the drive to Memphis their guitar amplifier was damaged and fixed with a bit of newspaper stuffed in the speaker cone. This sound was over amplified by Sam Phillips and went on to become the first known appearance of a distorted electric guitar, thus receiving the title "FIRST ROCK & ROLL RECORD."
I've had this in my personal collection for a while now, need to clear some space. It's been kept in a smoke free house in a heavy archvial sleeve. I would rate this as VG+. The labels are extremely clean as you can see in the picture! I've played through both sides. No skipping on this one.. just slight surface noise that comes with it being over 50 years old.
I know how to package 78s, no need to worry.
