Charlie Parker's most representative studio recordings are on the two major labels, "Savoy" and "Dial," but these Dial recordings are known as the most brilliant performances from the peak and perfected period of bebop. * This album includes all the timeless performances and classic tracks that have become textbooks of modern jazz, such as "Ornithology," "Yardbird Suite," "A Night in Tunisia," and "Moose the Mooche." * Miles Davis (trumpet), who was still a young musician at the time, was a regular member of the band, and the fresh interplay of the early days of modern jazz is vividly captured as he desperately tries to keep up with Parker's furious speed. * The greatest value of this box set lies in the fact that it includes not only the main take (master), but also numerous alternate takes that were unsuccessful or involved trial and error during the recording process, all presented in chronological order. You can listen to how Parker changed his improvisational (ad-lib) ideas from take to take, dissecting his "genius process of inspiration."
