An Ex (even Ex+) 22 LP set with a VG to VG+ booklet in a VG box. The booklet is solid and internally clean but lightly soiled externally with a spot to the rear cover (see picture). The box is merely VG (the set was sold by mail order and we have it on good authority that many of the boxes were damaged in transit): lightly soiled, chaffed corners, partially cracked hinges; weakened but holding (see pictures). The records consist of live recordings made between 1940 and 1955. The records are Ex. The set is complete. Before detailing the condition, it should be noted that the labels were occasionally overglued when applied: a few have streaky patterning to the glue, a few have a little dried seepage at the edges of the labels. But beyond these features, the labels are very clean and presentable, no subsequent mischief befell them after production. The records themselves were closely examined and selectively played, as needed. Uniformly bright and clean, the following very minor flaws were found: LP1A (faint scuff at T2); LP2A (long but faint hairline; a faint scuff to T3); LP3B (faint hairline, T3); LP4B (tiny mark to T1); LP5A (two very small marks); LP9B (hairline to T7); LP10B (hairline or small scratch to T4); LP11A (scuff to T1); LP13A (hairline across T4 and T5); LP14A (tiny mark at the end of T1). The sole unwarranted sound was found at LP10B - several soft ticks. The remaining spots were either definitively free of noise or gave off some slight suggestion of noise which I was as inclined to attribute to the record's original source material as I was to the hairline or scuff. In short, deserving a playgrade of NM but because of these few visual imperfections downgraded to Ex.
