Artist: Charles Brown Title: Drifting Blues Label/Number: Score SLP-4011 (M) Jacket condition: VG Record condition: VG Notes: The cover is fairly rough in that both seams and the spine have been split and neatly taped and both the front and back have a fair amount of ring wear. I'm not sure whether the front cover originally had a laminate covering the slick or not, but the photo and graphics appear to be a little faded, and I wonder if perhaps that's not the result of the laminate having peeled off. I've never seen a copy of this LP before so I will leave it to potential purchasers to know whether this is typical for the album or not. The photo, notes and title listings on the back are in good shape. The labels are the original maroon Score versions and are in OK condition but do have a fair number of spindle marks detracting some. The vinyl has a fair amount of scuffs and scratches and based purely upon appearance warrants a VG grade. However, it does play very well with only a minimal amount of extraneous noise--either background noise or ticks. The music is truly outstanding and the record plays better than its appearance would indicate. This is a rare original copy of a great early blues LP. Grading: Grading is usually only visual unless there are obvious problems that need to be checked out. I did play this one as noted above. I use Goldmine standards with a VG++ added for items NOT QUITE up to M-. I try to be conservative and grade as though I were buying the record. If you're worried about grading, however, please check my feedback and put your mind at ease. Mono (M) or Stereo (S) is noted after catalog number. Don't hesitate to e-mail questions.
