Extremely rare original copy of an excellent album from the piano playing deep voiced bluesman recorded with the cream of the UK’s blues musicians. Great copy too!

Condition:

Sleeve: The usual mid sixties Decca type sleeve mid of thin card laminated ( with Clarifoll!) on the front only. It was manufactured in England by Robert Stace.

The front is in as nice a condition as you could hope for. It’s very clean with no tears or writing anywhere, there are some very small and very light creases near the centre of the open edge right at the edge of the sleeve and a small light scuff up near the top left corner which is nothing serious. The bottom right corner is slightly (very slightly!) uneven, possibly due to being wet at some time but hold the cover at arms length and you’ll never notice. The lamination is clean and clear with as already mentioned very little in the way of creasing. This is as good a copy of this sleeve as I’ve ever seen.

The unlaminated rear is in equally nice condition, there’s a little bit of really light ringwear but nothing serious, the bottom left corner is slightly uneven matching the corner on the front but again at arms length you won’t notice it. And that’s about it, no writing, no tears, no creasing just a really nice example of a rare sleeve, oh and look at the picture - this is actually white, not yellowed with age, highly unusual for a Decca sleeve of this age!

The top seam is totally unworn.

The bottom seam is also totally unworn

The spine is also totally unworn, wide and clean with all of the writing clearly readable and the pinched area at the top and bottom still clearly defined.

Record: The disc is also very nice. It’s made of good heavy 60’s thickish vinyl which is very flat. It’s very clean and has retained a nice dark sheen. Viewed under normal light it looks just as nice as anything with no visible marks however when viewed under a harsh lamp there are some light hairlines present, nothing heavy just some of the light marks which are caused by taking the record in and out of the sleeve and are completely inaudible.

The two labels are in perfect condition. Both are very clean with no writing, stickers or tears and very little visible spindle wear. The matrix numbers in the run out grooves are ARL 7061 - 1A and ARL 7062 - 1A.

When played it’s just great, there’s a vibrant clear sound which comes leaping out of the speakers, like most mono records there is a very direct sound which lacking the channell seperation of stereo productions sounds very powerful. There is no hint of any groove wear or distortion and no hint of any surface noise throughout the whole record, even between tracks is totally silent. Hearing such a great (and rare) record in such good condition was both a joy and a priviledge and if you have any interest at all then you will have a very tough time finding a better copy than this one.

If you do decide to bid for this item I wish you luck and if not, well, thanks for looking and remember to look at my other items for sale you may find something more to your taste there.
