Description
First UK pressing of Cat Stevens' 1970 monumental release, 'Tea For The Tillerman'. Even after all these years and countless pressings and re-pressings, this first issue on the Pink "i" Island labels (ILPS - 9135) is still considered to be the best version out there. It is amazingly detailed and perfectly balanced. Ask any serious audiophile and they'll tell you the same thing. You have to hear it to believe it.
Gatefold Jacket: Near Mint.....the lamination still shines beautifully.....the inner gatefold is impressive in the way that it is "textured"...almost like the peel of an orange. A couple of the corners have some minor rubbing but all in all this is a near-perfect example.
Record: (Mainly)Excellent*......both labels are clean and the striking pink background is still vivid and bright. Some spindle marks can be made out at an angle. Some superficial marks and hairlines can be seen under strong light but for the most part have no bearing on the outstanding audio. *Only 2 songs prevent me from giving a full Excellent grade....'Sad Lisa' (VG) and the last song on Side 2, 'Tea For The Tillerman' (Good) ....so as you can see, MOST of the record plays very well with minimal surface noise and barely any loud ticks. A very acceptable copy of a rare and sought after audiophile pressing.
Matrix Numbers: Side 1 ILPS 9135 A - 3U Sterling LH Side 2 ILPS 9135 B - 3U Sterling LH
